Tater's Bear
Tater's Bear by Lynn Hagen is the twenty-second book in the Brac Pack series.
Tater can't believe the shambles his life is in. His uncle was producing and selling some drug called Liquid Wrath out of his family's barn, and now it's burned down, taking his motorcycle with it. The one place he went to find peace and now it's gone! Olsen Lakeland has been following Tater around, wanting to be his friend and now, when the chips are down, he's nowhere to be seen. Tater fears commitment and he knows that Olsen isn't looking for just friendship. Tater walks away when he can't stand the tension, landing himself into deeper trouble. Olsen and Maverick, the leaders of the Brac Pack, told him about paranormal creatures, but he didn't believe them. Then he runs into a Dudley, a vampire. The two of them bond, in spite of the strange circumstances, which only get weirder when a lone wolf, Sloane, starts following them. Sloane recognizes that Dudley is his mate, but both he and Olsen strike out when Dudley and Tater leave. Sloane goes to the Brac Pack, announcing that he is Maverick's cousin. Before things have a chance to settle down, rogue vampires attack, leaving Olsen's family and the Brac Pack fighting for their lives. Will they survive? Will Tater and Olsen get their chance at love?
Tater's Bear has so many twists and turns that the reader can never tell what will happen next, holding them spellbound until the very end. Many people are scared of commitment and when you add in all of the paranormal situations, I can't blame Tater from being skittish about getting involved. The thought of a drug that kills as fast as Liquid Wrath is unbelievably scary considering the problem society has with all of the street drugs already available. I fell in love with Dudley when he told Tater he was hungry. I have never heard of a more passive and friendly vampire in my life, and I look forward getting to know him better. The love between Tater and Olsen was beautiful as they refused to give up on each other, even with everything against them.
