The Second Door
The Second Door by T.C. Blue is a contemporary homoerotic romance.
Mitch is happily wrapping his boyfriend Todd's Christmas present when his curse takes hold, leaving him tangled in paper, tape and the tinsel that was added to the mess during his struggle to get free. His best friend Sam arrives in time to commemorate the event before he frees Mitch, laughing the entire time. Mitch can't stay mad at Sam, even when he calls his boyfriend Toad and the two loath each other. Before Christmas Eve is over, Mitch's relationship with Todd crashes, leaving Sam to pick up the pieces. Mitch asks Sam to stay the night and Sam finally gets the chance to hold him like he's always wanted to. Sam has been in love with Mitch for a long time, but doesn't want to chance loosing Mitch by changing things between them. Sam watches Mitch go from one boyfriend to another, never finding one that truly accepts him. Will Mitch ever get his chance or will they just remain friends for life?
This is a wonderful story about new beginnings and the magic of the Christmas Season. It was funny how Mitch somehow managed to get himself tangled up in anything remotely long, but how he did it with tape, Christmas paper, and tinsel was mind-boggling and so comedic! I felt bad reading how Sam stood by, watching Mitch go from boyfriend to boyfriend, scared to speak up about his feelings because it could ruin their relationship. It was nice how Sam's mother accepted how he felt about Mitch, even though he never said anything to her, and then told Mitch what was really going on. This story seemed to follow the seasons of the year as each chapter began, giving the reader a time frame to follow as their story unfolded. It was hilarious how Sam took a picture of Mitch every time he found him "In Peril" and Mitch knew that it was all in fun between them. The friendship and love between Sam and Mitch was breathtaking to experience as it evolved.
