Aaron's life changed when he became the alpha of a newly formed pack, knowing that the other packs wouldn't easily accept a bond mating of a gay werewolf to a human, Simon and Paul, who are members of his pack. In the past, a pack would kill a young boy when they first realized he was gay. Aaron knows that with the advancement of technology it will soon be impossible to remain hidden from humanity. As expected, a member from their old pack, Daniel, airs a grievance against Simon, which turns out to be caused by a young member of their pack, Zack. Zack agreed to be locked down, unable to shift, because of his dangerous actions before he became a member of Aaron's pack. Unknown to Zack, Aaron has always had more than just a passing interest in Zack, but he has always hidden his sexual orientation and now, as pack leader, it is more important to be seen as heterosexual for the safety of his members. Aaron is stunned to learn that Zack's actions were retaliation for Daniel outing Simon and Paul on the internet after he hacked a supposedly secure werewolf chat room. Zack stays with Aaron as he recovers from his addiction and complicates things when he finds out that Aaron is also gay, changing their relationship forever. The pack's safety is tested when Aaron invites other alphas to test out Simon and Paul's bond to try to get them to understand that change is needed if they wish to survive. Will Aaron and Zack's love survive the challenges ahead as the outside world encroaches on them?

This was a perfect addition to Unacceptable Risk, the first book in the Hidden Wolves series. Aaron never wanted to be Alpha, but his willingness to do whatever was needed to protect his pack made him the perfect choice as alpha. It was sad how Aaron knew he would have to hide his feelings for Zack to protect them all, but Zack's understanding and acceptance proved his worth as Aaron's mate. It was frightening when Simon was kidnapped and used as an experimental subject realizing every werewolf's fear. It takes a true leader to put his needs to the side for the good of his people while trying to get other alpha's to see what lies ahead for the safety of all werewolves. Zack may only be twenty-one years old, but his desire for Aaron may be strong enough, if Aaron will just follow his heart. Things are not settled quite yet and I hope that there is more to come in the Hidden Wolves series.
