Blood on the Bayou
Annabelle Lee is stationed in the bayous of Louisiana to control the fairies whose venom is poison if you aren't immune. She's being given a drug that has started producing weird side effects, but has no idea what will happen if she stops taking it.
Annabelle is on a mission to help her ex-lover, Hitch, locate a secret chemical weapons lab located in the bayou because his fiancé and unborn child's life are at stake. During the investigation, Annabelle learns that nothing and no one is as it seems.
She's being given the drugs by Tucker, a man who can become invisible at will, but the drug is being provided by someone she only knows as the big man. She also finds out that someone she considers as family is not who she seems to be, and she doesn't know if she can even trust her boyfriend. The only thing Annabelle does know is that if she doesn't find the lab, many lives could be destroyed, including her own.
This is the second book in this series, but you can read it as a stand-alone, as it's not that hard to figure out what's going on. Although, I do think it would have been better if I had read the first book. I liked the action and the mystery that was created by the crazy killer fairies, and that there was romance as well. I liked the fact that Annabelle was portrayed as someone with a heart that really cared about the people she loved and would do anything to protect them.
