Irish Magic

Abby Flannigan has lived her life with a gift that would break a stronger woman. Her dreams are filled with nightmarish realities. She has seen the deaths of others and has been helpless to stop them. As a mad man continues his plan, Abby seems to be somehow connected to him and sees his victims in her dreams. She struggles to see the face that is haunting her dreams. For once, Abby is not alone in fighting the unseen terror of her dreams. Instead, a spirit presents itself to her and serves as a source of advice and support. She also finds comfort and strength in Jake Kelly.

Jake Kelly is the investigating detective in the string of recent murders. Luck had Jake meeting Abby, but the murders draw them together. He is inexplicably drawn to her and despite the tension and upheaval that plagues them, they discover something meaningful between them. As the investigation progresses, their love and commitment are tested. Will they be able to find the answers to the mystery surrounding Abby's dreams? Can they stop the madman in time to stop more innocent women from being murdered?

Irish Magic is a quality crafted suspense story. The plot is well developed and enjoyable. The beginning of the story provoked an immediate reaction that compelled me to keep reading. There were enough unforeseen developments within the story to keep me surprised by the story's ending. The most compelling aspect of the story is the diverse use of characterization. Anita Whiting has done a superb job creating characters that are a pleasure to read. Abby and Jake are unique and believable. They are not a perfect couple. Instead, their interactions run the gamut of emotions over the length of the story; they have moments of passion, fear, humor and love. The supporting cast of characters is well thought out and lends an additional level of believability to the story. I enjoyed the dialogue between Jake and his family. The conversations are well thought out and are reminiscent of real family relationships. The added lure of the paranormal will keep readers absorbed in the story. This is a book readers will enjoy taking the time to read.
