The Shaman

Special Agent Charlotte "Charlie" Boyer came to the reservation to investigate the death of another young woman. Local opinion attributed her death to a puma attack, but Charlie was not convinced. She is determined to find out how this girl and the ones before her really died. She is resolved that she will have to find the truth without the locals' assistance, but then the tribe shaman, John Greywolf, agrees to help.

Charlie is more than nervous about being near Greywolf. He has a magnetism that immediately tempts her. Charlie has no time for a man in her life. She has fought hard for her job and her commitment to her career leaves little time for a relationship. One stolen kiss and she knows that she could very easily fall under his spell. John will not be deterred. After tasting the passion between them, he wants more. In truth so does Charlie, but she is afraid that a man as sexy as John could only be interested in a brief affair. As the investigation heats up so does their relationship. When they learn that they are not dealing with an ordinary adversary, the stakes in the investigation are raised. Can they find the killer in time? Can they find a common ground for a relationship after the investigation is over?

The Shaman was a quick, fulfilling read. Kimberly Zant opens the story with details and action that will grab your attention immediately. Ms. Zant has done a good job mixing the elements of a steamy romance with an original mystery. The intermittent and sizzling interactions between Charlie and John at the beginning ensure that the reader will keep turning pages in anticipation of a good mystery and even better romance. Charlie and John burn up the pages as they give in to their desire; yet the reader is aware that they feel more than passion towards each other. The portrayal of these two characters is easy to relate to and definitely enjoyable. Combine their relationship with the compelling investigation on the reservation and readers will enjoy the time spent in Ms. Zant's world.
