Miss Extreme Congeniality - Erin McCarthy
FBI Agent CJ White cannot stand her partner, Wyatt Maddock; Wyatt's not too fond of CJ either. Their current case has CJ acting as a caterer and look out, while Wyatt hangs all over a gorgeous woman, pretending to be drunk to gain access to an office. When their cover is almost blown, CJ is furious. They hurl insults at each other, which results in an explosive kiss.
Wyatt has a proposition for CJ. Spend one night with him, all night, and as soon as their case is over, he will transfer. CJ might not be able to stomach Wyatt, but she wants him all the same. CJ agrees to Wyatt's one night of passion deal, knowing that it could never be anything more than that. There is something about CJ that Wyatt doesn't know, something not a lot of people know and she intends to keep it that way. Their night together is beyond what either of them expected, CJ's running scared and Wyatt will do just about anything to convince her to give them a chance. CJ can't help but wonder if Wyatt will still feel that way if he learns what she's been hiding.
When I read Smart Mouth by Erin McCarthy, I hoped that CJ and Wyatt would have their own book. Bad attitude CJ and wisecracking Wyatt are back in Miss Extreme Congeniality. The story is oddly tender, as CJ tries to reconcile her needs with those around her. Erin McCarthy writes this story with emotion and spirit, was well as humor. Any book by Erin McCarthy is bound to be great!
Last Call - Morgan Leigh
Fletcher is a small town mayor with no desire to be anything more; he enjoys his life just as it is. When Fletcher walks into the bar, the woman on the stage mesmerizes him. The mysterious woman is just as affected by him. When Fletcher winks at her she loses her place in her song. Fletcher asks who the new talent is and is warned off by his friend. It's well known that Fletcher's first wife used him and then tired of small town living; understandably he's quiet leery of people who want something from him.
Fletcher waits for Tess outside the bar and just as he expected the chemistry between them is explosive; one kiss and he is drowning in her. Fletcher goes to Tess's house to find out what Tess wants from him. Instantly, they're all over each other. Tess manages to explain to Fletcher her dreams of being a songwriter and the town foreclosing on her inheritance. Now that Fletcher knows what Tess wants, he only wants her more. Yet, how will Tess feel when she finds out who Fletcher really is?
Last Call is a great story. I laughed out loud while reading it and I also cringed waiting for Tess to find out who Fletcher really was. Readers will be completely engrossed in this first-class story. Once again, Morgan Leigh delivers a well-written, awesome story in Last Call.
Bad Boys In Black Tie includes three fantastic stories from three highly talented authors. I enjoyed each of these authors separately and loved them together.Reviewed by: Jaymi
