Never the Twain
Rock despises city women. His father's marriage left a bad taste in his mouth when his stepmother decided country living wasn't for her and she left. His father died a broken man. When Rock meets Genny, he finds it humorous that this city girl took her vehicle off the man road and now she's stranded. It also appears his cattle frightened her to death. Rock is intrigued by this spitfire, beautiful woman. It isn't until he finds out who she is that his humor and intrigue fade. Genny is an archeologist that can halt his plans for a desperately needed waterhole. Rock suddenly remembers why he can't stand city girls, and Genny is a city girl right down to her pink fingernail polish.
Genny grew up with domineering men; her father and her brothers controlled everything she attempted to do. This is why Genny moved half way across the country for her current job. Genny is instantly infuriated by Rock's attitude towards her; he treats her as if she can't make a single decision for herself. Genny is done with men thinking for her…letting men dominate her, she moved away from home so she didn't have to put up with that anymore. Yet for some reason she wants very much for Rock to take her in his arms and kiss her.
Rock and Jenny come together in a fury of want and desire. Both realize they feel more for each other, but neither is willing to trust in the other that they, as they are, is enough. Rock can't trust that Genny will never tire of country living and high tail it back to the city. Genny can't trust that Rock won't steamroll roll over her to do what he thinks is best. How will these two stubborn individuals ever find middle ground? Will they lose each other forever before they realize that compromise could save them both?
Never the Twain is an emotionally charged story. Judith B. Glad continually writes well-written, unique stories with depth and great romance. Never the Twain is a frustratingly delightful book; never have two characters tried harder not to love one another. The banter between them is funny at times and heartbreaking at other times. Judith B. Glad constantly delivers multi-faceted plots and characters that go above and beyond what one would expect.
