As the story opens, it appears to be an average, everyday scene; a woman is shopping with her daughter. Suddenly her husband shows up and shoots her in a fit of jealousy. Then the scene starts to change and as the woman looks down on her dying body she's realizes that she is a he. Back in Mortal Heaven, Rogar remembers that he is a task partner to Elesa and she has just murdered him…again! For a millennia and countless incarnations, Elesa and Rogar have been paired. Rogar resents Elesa's inability to learn from their experiences and he is exasperated that she repeats the same mistakes, over and over again.

Elesa is helplessly and hopelessly in love with Rogar. She knows that he only tolerates her, and just barely. After an incarnation, Rogar always isolates himself from her, just to get away from her. This pains Elesa beyond imagination. She doesn't mean to hurt Rogar, she just can't seem to move beyond whatever lays hidden within her that causes her to kill him repeatedly in their mortal lives…if only he could love her just half as much as she loved him.

Rogar enjoys being alone and after an incarnation he is relieved to be away from Elesa. Only this time something happens. Rogar encounters a being that shouldn't even exist. This being fights him almost to his death and then possesses him. When Rogar awakens, he sees everything in a whole new light; including Elesa.

Belinda Palmer has written a mystifying book with The Guardians of Eternity Book 1: Rogar of Hamun. Rogar is a strong; baffling hero and Elesa will do anything to gain his love. The Guardians of Eternity Book 1: Rogar of Hamun is definitely an original story, confusing as times, but really just amazing. I have never read a book quite like this. The imagination that it takes to write this story is awe-inspiring. Belinda Palmer creates this world of the afterlife with shape shifting gorgeous warriors, green-misted entities that float in and out of a person, and a love that is immeasurably tested beyond belief. Reflecting back on this story, I found Belinda Palmer and The Guardians of Eternity Book 1: Rogar of Hamun brilliant.
