Unleashed
As the old sayings go…no good deed goes unpunished and never talk to strangers. Lacey realizes that she should have remembered those little phrases beforehand. Had she known that answering a 'HELP!' email would land her in outer space with a really hot guy and a talking ship, she never would have responded. Lacey has less than stellar luck with men, having been betrayed by a man she thought loved her and then having her life completely turned upside down, Lacey has had enough. Lacey makes several resolutions for the New Year, the first on her list being no more doormat Lacey behavior.
Zain hadn't meant to trap Lacey with him. Then again, he hadn't meant to get shot down by a foreign planet's deadly defense system either. Even if he could get his ship operational, he still had to get past the lasers that brought him down in the first place. Those deadly weapons are what has stopped him from contacting, an ally from his own world. When Lacey answered his online SOS, he mistakenly thought he'd have enough power to send her back to her planet, without any complications. This did not happen. Now Zain is stuck on some God forsaken unknown plant, with a beautiful woman that he will not allow himself to feel attraction towards and a creature she calls a cat. This day just keeps getting better and better.
Unleashed is the third book in the 'UN-forgettable' series and CJ Barry has out done herself. Readers of this series are familiar with the secondary characters, the fascinating world she has built for all of them and the fantastic storytelling. Within CJ Barry's imagination are these beautifully serene, yet sometimes-deadly planets, her characters are true to life and they go beyond likeable. Her storylines are truly incredible. In Unleashed, Lacey is determined to stand on her own, to be liked for who she is. The worst thing Zain could do to her to her, is to make her feel as if what she's done, what she's contributed isn't her own or isn't important. Those scenes are heart breaking. Zain knows what he's doing, he knows he is hurting her, but his first priority is to see to her safety; even if that means she'll hate him. The magnitude of emotions between these two is just awesome! I loved this book and can't wait for the series to continue. Bring on the fourth CJ!!!
