Resolutions
Resolutions tells the story of four women that get together every December to make their New Year's resolution and to discuss past resolutions.
A Losing Proposition is the first four stories beautifully done. Caryn Cook's resolution was to lose forty pounds and to have sex.
Caryn Cook wants to improve her looks and self esteem by losing some weight. She can't see that she is pretty just the way she is. To accomplish her goals she takes a weight management class. That's where she meets up with another facility member Zack Roman. Zack wants to lose the weight he put on since his divorce. When Zack asks Caryn on a date, she wonders how a guy like that could want to be seen with her. It soon becomes apparent that he wants more than a fling with her. Now when she tells her horrible secret will she be able to keep the man and her resolution?
I really enjoyed this story by Vanessa Hart. I loved how her heroine was real, and how she relayed Caryn's self doubt and fears. I loved that her hero was sensitive and didn't rush her but at the same time he was "manly". I think she has a great plot and did an excellent job with her descriptions. Ms. Hart starts this anthology off with a great story.
Free Fall is Deanna Rain's story, and her resolution was to skydive.
Deanna Rain gave up her dreams of becoming a photographer to go with a more secure job. She soon starts to feel smothered and wants to do something daring, she decided to follow through on her resolution. When she meets her jumpmaster Cole Johnson, she thinks he is a Viking God. With his help Deanna will skydive with interesting results. Not only will she meet her resolution but also her dream of photography.
I thought this story was well written. I loved how her heroine found what she was missing in her life. I loved how her hero was a typical male. I liked how she did the skydiving scene in the story I thought it really captured what it's like when you're free falling. The great stories just keep on coming
For Sale by Owner is Jenna's story. Her resolution is to buy a house to see if she can stop her wonder lust ways.
When Jenna Perry goes to look at a house she is appalled by the note on the door and wonders if the person who owns the house is crazy. When she finally meets the owner Trent long she believes she was right in right in her way of thinking. He's more interested in seeing her on his furniture than in making a sale, and soon it becomes clear why he doesn't care if he sales it or not. Will Jenna buy the house and keep her resolution when she leaves the secret Trent is keeping?
Again, I loved this author's story. She does a great job with her plot, and I love how her characters interact and how they resolve their issues. The stories just keep getting better and better.
The last story in the book That Scottish Spring tells the tale of the host Spring Matthews. Her resolution was to plan something spontaneous.
When Spring Matthew's friend cancels her trip at the last minute that leaves her alone with a room mate she has never met before, Morgan Mackay. Expecting a woman she is shocked when she learns that Morgan is a man, a young man. Now Summer will have to learn how to deal with her feelings for a man 10 years younger than her, and he will have to teach her how to be spontaneous. Will Summer learn to give up her planner?
The last story in the anthology Resolutions was intriguing. It was so fun to read the interactions between Spring and Morgan. I loved how this author dealt with age differences. I think she told an emotional tale of love and how to compromise.
I thought Resolutions was a great Anthology. Rarely do you read an anthology where you like all the stories in it. I think they did an amazing job at doing just that. These authors should be congratulated on the superb job they did. I thought it was really great to see how four friends meet their resolutions and how they accomplished something other than just meeting a goal. I loved how these four authors combined their talent and left you wanting more. I would definitely recommend this story to others.
