The Last Illusion

Emily Franklin is shattered when she learns that her husband of twenty-five years wants a divorce. Her husband has committed the unforgivable. He's cheating on her with a younger woman. For the first time since she married, she will have to learn how to survive without Robert. Emily makes a new life for herself and learns that she likes the new her better, but just when she's beginning to accept that Robert is no longer part of her life he starts hanging around again. At first he just wants her help to worm his way back into his sons' good graces; it soon becomes apparent that what he really wants is Emily back. Emily will have to make a choice. She knows she loves Robert, but will she be able to trust him again, after all he betrayed her once already.

This author will hit all age groups with this story. It's well written and the author has created a great plot. Her first and secondary characters are loveable and true to life. I was impressed with how she captured her heroine's emotions, especially while she is going through the whole divorce. Whereas this reviewer would have dealt Robert a much harder punishment for his indiscretions, the characters' actions are consistent and believable. All in all I feel the author did a great job with this book and illustrating the emotions of all involved. The author has shown that no matter how old children are, seeing their parents divorce still affects them. Finally, the manner in which the author concluded the story is effective and will leave readers satisfied.
