Irma Rivera's job as a defense attorney was to keep her clients out of prison. Even though she felt her current client was guilty, he was no exception. She was determined to do her job and do it well. Not even the recent death threats would keep her from seeing to a fair trial. When the killer hits too close, she goes to the one man who can help her. He is also the one man she wants in her bed more then anything else.
Wray Slade was a detective who had a problem with defense attorneys. He hated to see the criminals that he hunted down go free, but Irma's exotic beauty was enough to make him overlook the fact that she fought for the wrong side. When her life is in danger, it becomes his job to keep her safe. Having her so close to him day and night was a temptation he couldn't resist. As the killer moves closer, can he protect the woman that has become his world?
While well written, Stake Out seems rushed. The characters thoughts go from one subject to another without really solving anything. This reviewer was never able to get a sense of what Irma and Wray were like and why they reacted to situations, the way they did. Irma is a smart defense attorney, yet when confronted with death threats, she reacts very different then a typical person would with no explanation why.
Sex is the main focus of the characters, despite the danger surrounding them. Though the sex was very hot, this reviewer would have like to see more depth and details in the story itself. This reviewer would like to read more from Ms.Veers, as her imagination and talent is apparent. The virtual fantasy machine sounds like technology at its best.
