Penny's Luck
Divorced and ready to move on, Penny Keller takes a big step and moves to Arizona. Finding a new job and place to live were her main priorities. However, some things are meant to change especially in her life. Being the new graveyard dispatcher at the Conchise Police Department, Penny has been busy not only in working but in also snagging two bachelors. The first one is Deputy Valdez Hawke, a man who can really hurt her if she wasn't careful. Penny keeps telling herself that there's no time to start a relationship, yet whenever she is close to Valdez the tension escalates. Her mind tells her to not dwell on him, but her body wants differently. Not only does she have the attraction towards Val to deal with, but there's also her boss, Lt. Pete Lawson. As days go by they compete for her attention and caught in between is Penny.
Two men want her; one however is not sure whether Penny is right for him. Hurt by a woman before, Val lets Pete have her and stands in heartache, seeing her have fun with him. He knows there's chemistry between Penny and him but Val can't help shake the feeling that they were fated together. Penny has spunk and is determined to work things out with Val even though he tries hard to ignore her. One thing on his mind is the drug deal that he has been monitoring and he's determined not to be distracted by Penny. This would be easy if she didn't keep looking beautiful to him. As a man who has always competed with Pete Lawson, Val is hurt that she would go out with her boss. The more he sees her though and tries to avoid her he believe that she is the right woman for him. Problem is he hopes that he hasn't ruined any future with her before Pete gets her.
Penny's Luck is a tale of a woman's determination to be independent and not let any man enter her life. That changes when she moves to Conchise, AZ and two men lay eyes on her. Now instead of living a life of her own she is on dates, picnics and staying away from drug people who will do anything to get to Valdez Hawke. As an ex Military dispatcher she is one woman who is highly qualified for the department but not all sure if she's ready to start dating. Ms. Morgan has created a woman that any reader would applaud.
This woman juggles a graveyard shift, two men and decisions about her love life. Throughout the story Penny has to figure out on which man she likes, which friends are true and most of all whether she could give her heart to the right man. Penny is definitely a heroine worth reading and the Hispanic setting in this story is great to read especially a man like Valdez. This man is the protective type and will do anything to win the woman of his dreams. Definitely, this book will interest any reader from its rich descriptiveness of different locations in Arizona, and figuring out which man, Penny would decide.
