Nikki Prentice is a 16 year-old runaway forced to live on the streets of New York City when her mother kicks her out of their home. Trying her best not to become a prostitute, she is running from a pimp that will not take no for an answer, when she literally runs into sophisticated and charming Maxim Devereaux. Max owns an international modeling agency. When Max sets eyes on Nikki, he is drawn to her and has a desire to help the runaway get off the streets. While both are attracted to each other, Nikki is too in awe of Max to pursue her feelings, and Max vows to keep his distance, as she is still just a child.
After 10 years of working with Max, Nikki is no longer a child, and the past isn't all in the past. When Max spots a mask in an antique shop he just knows that it belongs in Nikki's collection. The first time Nikki puts on the mask she is carried back to another place in time, a place in time where the past lives of her and Max didn't have a happily every after ending. Just to complicate things even more, someone is stalking Nikki and danger lurks around every corner. Will they be able to get it right this time? Or will this life have another tragic ending as their past lives had?
See You In My Dreams is jam-packed full of suspense, mystery and action. A page turner from start to finish. Strong characters abound in this riveting novel about two people whose lives are connected both in the past and present. This story explores two souls that always find each and leave the reader thinking of the possibilities "could this really happen?" The dream scenes where Nikki and Max learn of their past lives are a stroke of genius and draws you in with the details of their past lives. Ms Ryan is able to capture the true love and soul mate essence of the main characters. The love scenes are steamy but do not cross into erotic. The teenager with a crush on her hero is a typical storyline, but in this book it flows so sweetly from the author's pen. The stalker story line is full of suspense and keeps the reader guessing who he could be, with a surprise twist that is revealed by Nikki's mother.
While an enjoyable read, this reviewer found this book a little long with several different story lines running back to back. Some of which would have made a wonderful second book in a series. Perhaps in a See You In My Dreams sequel. There are some missing years that the author didn't talk much about. Some details of the 10 years that Nikki worked for Max and became a super model, rich and famous would have made this story more complete. See You In My Dreams is Marie-Nicole Ryan's second book. This reviewer looks forward to future works by this author.
