As an avid reader of erotic romance, I have often wondered, guiltily, if my favorite pastime was a healthy diversion. In her introduction to Soulful Sex, Diana Laurence reasons that erotica that taps into the beauty and purity of sex can be good for you. In writing Soulful Sex, the author tried to illustrate how sex moves people spiritually, as well as physically and emotionally. She achieved that goal without a doubt!
While each of the stories in this collection is very different, there is a strong common thread. The physical expression of sex intensifies an already present bond of affection and mutual respect between the lovers. Sex is like the mortar in a brick wall. Bricks are strong in and of themselves, but the mortar enables the bricks to be used to make something bigger and better.
In PINTS, blood bank technician Eliza falls in love with evening custodian Anders before she finds out he's a vampire. Although he fights to deny his inherent urge for fresh blood, Eliza finds herself drawn to Anders' dark side.
BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY - Anne is rescued by Jacob when she becomes lost in a secluded mountain area. As he nurtures her back to health in his remote cabin, nature seems to assist their growing attraction to each other.

THE DARK PRINCE - Princess Mallorie has been cursed to know no joy until she learns to love evil. After she loses two husbands, no one is willing to marry her - until Lucan. Nicknamed "The Dark Prince", Lucan forces himself into Mallorie's life and he just might change her luck and her life, forever.
While the sex is described in detail, there is absolutely nothing obscene or offensive in any of these short stories. Ms. Laurence writes beautiful love scenes that are as uplifting and tender as they are arousing. Several passages literally took my breath away. It's wonderful to find a writer who realizes that sex and spirituality are not mutually exclusive. Combining the two can be incredible.
