Grace Collins' new job as a teacher brings her into Sissie and Emmy Lou's orbit. Emmy Lou is one of her new students. To Grace's dismay, Sissie is illiterate and Emmy Lou's father is unknown. When Emmy Lou is absent from school, Grace decides to visit their home. She is accompanied by David, the other teacher at the school. Grace meets Cody Slayton, Sissie's brother, and there is something familiar about him.
This was an extremely short book comprising approximately 33 pages. The author has a little bit of everything in this story: mystery, suspense, romance and a touch of the paranormal. The plot line is intriguing, as the reader will want to know what happens to all the characters and find out the answers to the questions that popped up along the way. There are many characters for such a short story and there are several erotic scenes within the book. This book has an interesting premise but it should have been longer.Reviewed by: Susan
