Someone is killing the women in Pine Forest. The victims are women and they have been drained of their blood. Micky Gunn has inherited Gunn Inn from her late uncle. The Inn is said to be haunted. Jared Thornton, a cop from Denver is here to investigate the death of his aunt. She was a victim of the serial killer. Micky is a woman with a few problems. The shadow people have been haunting Micky and follow her to Pine Forest. Micky is hesitant to tell Jared about them since her parents didn't believe her when she told them. They thought they were a result of her imagination. If that wasn't enough, there is an ancient vampire floating around town too!
Micky and Jared have great chemistry together. They literally sizzle and smoke up the computer screen. The attraction is apparent at their first meeting and just gets more intense as the story progresses. Micky and Jared are extremely likable characters. Although they are the main focus of the book, the author has brought in many secondary characters. They are all well developed and the reader can get a sense of what and who they are. The vampires populating this book are quite interesting and the author's vision on their "world" is unique.
This is the 2nd book in a series. Although the reviewer doesn't believe you must read the first book to understand this one; it would give the reader a better understanding of the previous battles that the secondary characters have endured. This was a fairly complex story with very likable lead characters. There was enough action and very high level of eroticism to satisfy any reader who enjoys the vampire genre.Reviewed by: Susan
