Erotic Invitation
Sheila Lane, the personal assistant of CEO Nick Tarantino, has been in love with her boss since she started working for him three years ago, but she has never attempted to cross the line between their working relationship and a personal one. Now Nick is rocking the boat because he plans to retire and he has just broken the news to Sheila that he will be retiring immediately. Pining and not having the courage to make a move on Nick, Sheila dithers over whether to and how to approach him, especially now he is leaving and the barrier of working together will be removed.
Nick Tarantino has had the hots for his personal assistant, Sheila, for years. However, he has always had a strict code not to get involved with someone he works with, and Sheila has always been an exemplary assistant. Now, Nick has made enough money and he is looking for other excitement, both in his personal and business relationships.
The interplay between Nick and Sheila is dramatic, sizzling and yet heartwarming too. Both of these characters are strong. Nick's weaknesses and strengths are complimented by Sheila's. Ms. McCray put it very simply "She was working class…he was a god." Can these two people find themselves, once freed from everyday, mundane, constraints? You'll just have to buy the book to find out.
Sheila starts out as kind of wimpy, but very real. She is described as an average, typical looking woman, with lots of intelligence. How many people can get up the nerve to approach and ask a man they really care about out on a date? Not too many in my opinion. It is one of the best parts about this story; Ms. McCray portrays Sheila as an ordinary person in an extraordinary situation…making her dream reality.
