What She Doesn’t Know

Rita Brooks thinks she has found a man that she can finally build a future with. She is looking forward to meeting Brian in person and seeing where things might lead. The last thing she expects is to be waking from a coma before she ever meets him. What first appears as a simple accident takes on new meaning when Brian’s brother, Christopher LaPorte, confronts Rita. Brian is lying in a coma near death. Christopher has no clues to his brother’s life except for his e-mails to Rita. Surely, she must know why his brother jumped from the roof of his home and is now in the hospital fighting for his life.

Rita is shocked at Chris’s news, but she is unable to offer any information. She knows nothing of Brian’s life except what he revealed in calls and e-mails. However, when Rita begins to remember the events leading up to her accident as well as ghostly images from her coma, she is compelled to travel to New Orleans and see Brian. As Christopher and Rita work to piece the puzzle of Brian’s life together, someone is out there trying to make sure they fail, permanently. As the secrets Brian kept close in around them, will they be able to find their way free and save themselves and Brian in the process?

What She Doesn’t Know is a compelling romantic suspense story. Tina Wainscott jumps right in with action and intrigue. Readers will be drawn in and immersed in the story from page one. Rita and Christopher are very dynamic characters. Tina has done an excellent job creating a hero and heroine that are likable and believable. These are two individuals that have their own demons and dreams to contend with. As they work together to find the answers to Brian’s life, they are also forced to confront aspects of themselves that they have kept locked away. The growth of their characters throughout the story is a credit to the author. The plot moves quickly and maintains the tension, suspense, and moments of humor established within the first pages of the book. The author has captured the flavor of New Orleans and used it to enhance the story. The narrative is fraught with twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing. As the tension builds, Ms. Wainscott rewards readers with an unexpected turn of events and an ending that does credit to the rest of the book. 5 Angels.
