Palmer Morel is a tennis pro on vacation in New Orleans with his girlfriend, Corky. His first impressions of the city are from a dream that he has of sex slaves, nunneries, and police sirens. In the midst of his seemingly living nightmare, Corky’s friend Bliss comes to visit. She is a blonde Amazon that has had some wild times in her years. She immediately makes it known that she wants Palmer and that she will have him. Of course this causes tension between Palmer and Corky…Corky doesn’t want Palmer to have anything to do with Bliss and her evil intentions. Yet that is not meant to be.

Bliss wants to do a little sightseeing during her brief visit and Bourbon Street is her main destination. She immediately plunges them all headfirst into debauchery. There is nothing sacred from Bliss and the tour that she takes them on. Sex clubs, murder, the mafia, movie sets and of course drugs that release your sexual inhibitions and make you hallucinate… What next? Oh, yes, and all of that occurs with Bliss running around town in a see through blouse. She will show them the time of their lives, if they can live through it….

Bourbon and Bliss is a truly interesting and chilling suspense novel. It contains all the necessary evils that keep the reader hooked and unable to stop reading. I couldn’t put it down until I knew just what was going to happen to Palmer and Corky. I found myself irritated with Bliss throughout the story because of her lack of inhibitions and her penchant for finding trouble, and stirring up emotions. The more that I read, the more I wanted to read. I became entangled in the dark eroticism and the trouble that surrounded Palmer, Bliss, and Corky. Larry Rochelle has a talent for making the scenes come to life, and weaving a web of mystery and deceit that keeps the reader enthralled until the very last word.
