Familiar Magic
Sebastian has always been able to get to Audrey in a way she couldn’t explain. She’s been half in love with him since she was a little girl, but Sebastian seems determined to either infuriate her or hurt her in any way he can. As the joining ceremony begins, Audrey realizes what a fool she’s been. She thought she could go through with the joining and keep herself a safe distance from Sebastian; yet suddenly there is awareness between them that sizzles with intensity. She wants him, and she hates her lack of control for it. If the way Sebastian looks at her is an indication, he wants her just as badly.
The ceremony that is to bind them together for all time is interrupted when Audrey is kidnapped and whisked back in time. Sebastian keenly feels the loss of his mate even though their joining wasn’t completed. Having Audrey near him to glance at or to just barely touch her has become a necessity to Sebastian. He doesn’t know where these new feelings are coming from, but Sebastian does know he’ll do everything in his power to bring his mate home.
Familiar Magic is a fast paced, awesome story of witches, mages and familiars. This story is set in the present and the past with powerful results. What could be more terrifying for a witch than to be in 1598 Aberdeen, Scotland during the witch trails?
Also compelling is the way both Audrey and Sebastian dance around each other without saying what they are truly thinking and feeling. Even for a paranormal Familiar Magic is very realistic. Audrey takes her role in the lives of her people very serious; she knows what’s expected of her and has no complaints about doing what’s needed of her. Even though she suspects that she will live her life never experiencing true love. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. Sebastian and Audrey’s plight will have readers reading as quickly as they can for the outcome. Shannon Devlyn takes her readers on an expedition that shouldn’t be missed. 5 Angels!
