Houston, We Have A Problem

Erin McCarthy has one again delivered a book that will have fans laughing out loud and relishing the byplay between two exceptional characters. Houston, We Have a Problem introduces us to Houston and Josie. They work together in orthopedics, he as a surgeon and she as a resident. Besides medicine, they appear to have chemistry in common. Houston thinks Josie is hot, but he doesn’t like to mix business and pleasure. Barring being able to sleep with her, Houston chooses to ignore her and the baser instincts she elicits. His attempts to ignore her are entertaining, pair this with Josie’s reaction to him and hilarity ensues.

Josie is aware of Houston, but just tries to go with the flow. However, it is a little hard to go with the flow when you are dropping things, tripping, or falling over yourself. Josie is sure he must think she is the biggest klutz, instead of the truth that she is disconcerted by his presence. Not only is he attractive, but professionally he is the type of surgeon she aspires to become. When Houston has had enough things dropped around and on him, he decides to question Josie. He only meant to ask her if he bothered her, instead he finds himself asking her to dinner and then for one night together. Surely one night of hot sex will get rid of this unreasonable need.

Nothing is ever that simple. Josie agrees, in fact, she is hot with anticipation. She knows that one night with Dr. Hayes can never be enough, but one night is better than nothing and maybe this will solve her klutz problem. When the hospital interrupts what bodes to be a night of bliss, Houston and Josie are left floundering. They have found satisfaction in each other, but where do they go from there. As far away from each other as possible it would seem. However, work forces them to acknowledge the other. Especially when Houston blocks Josie’s path towards becoming a surgeon. When Houston is injured in a shark attack, all bets are off both professionally and personally. Can these two find a way to resolve the present for a chance at the future?

Houston, We Have a Problem is a witty and entertaining read. Erin McCarthy has a unique gift for creating stories that will warm the heart while making you laugh. The interaction between Houston and Josie is intense. Houston knows that there is something unique about Josie, and yet he is fighting himself the whole way. Erinhas given Houston depth and history that impact his present. She eloquently shows his fear of letting anyone close just to be abandoned. Josie is a wonderfully warm and funny woman. She knows that she can’t force Houston into anything, so she attempts to let things develop as they will. The course of their relationship is a true joy to read. Ms. McCarthy throws in some steam though just to make sure you are still with her, and can this reader say WOW! The scene with the surfboard is a must read! Erin McCarthy never fails to delight readers. Her stories are filled with humor and romance. Houston, We Have a Problem is a great book, just what you’ve come to love and expect from Erin.
