Yours Until Dawn
Gabriel isn’t just any man; he’s an Earl that has been blinded in the war and is reconciled to living out the rest of his days in darkness. Neither Gabriel nor any members of his staff has made the slightest adjustment to his blindness. Against her better judgment, Samantha agrees to become Gabriel’s nurse. Samantha is appalled that the entire household has been cloaked in darkness. Samantha immediately sets out to ease the burdens on her new charge.
Gabriel all but throws Samantha from the manor, in fact, he did tell her to leave and for reasons unknown to him she remains. He hasn’t given up on his sight returning, he refuses to think otherwise. Gabriel doesn’t want the memories that Samantha’s presence brings to the forefront. Just having her near, reminds him of all the things that will never be again. Desire for his little nurse is the last thing he expected to feel, but long for her he does. He doesn’t even know what she looks like. Gabriel is quickly coming to appreciate that it doesn’t matter what Samantha looks like, it’s the way that she portrays herself that has him falling for her. When Samantha’s well being is in danger, Gabriel’s life once again miraculously changes. He can’t lose her now, when he’s just discovered how much she means to him. However, Samantha has been keeping something from him. Just how will Gabriel feel about her when he finds out?
Yours Until Dawn is a charming, heartening story. The writing style is emotive and ensures that readers will experience the emotions of these two distinct characters. Samantha is a tenderhearted woman that has made her share of mistakes. With Gabriel, she hopes that she can atone for a misdeed of youth. Her soul searching and pain, will have you compassionately hoping things will work out for the best. Yet at the same time, the reader is confronted with the pain and bitterness that have become Gabriel’s constant companions. This is a man that has some justification for his anger towards life, and yet readers can’t help but sympathize with his pain. Ms. Medeiros has done an excellent job portraying emotions that are very real to life and therefore that much more moving for their realism. The plot and pace of the story allows for the relationship between Gabriel and Samantha to be the focal point of the story. Teresa Medeiros does not need fancy settings or embellished action to make this a memorable romance. Instead she has used her skill, wit, and some very human emotions to render love at its worst and best.
