Dishonored – Tarot: Six of Pentacles
Jurel is prince of the Lengar who, as the story begins, have conquered the country of the Fion. Juvia is a daughter of the Fion ruler. Disgraced and disowned for failing the “challenge” of womanhood, Juvia has been in exile for over a year, and yet she continues to fight to defend the Fion. One warrior against many, Juvia is captured and enslaved, then taken to Jurel to begin her se rvitude. But Juvia does not react as the Lengar expect she would—she meekly serves them. What kind of woman is this to give in to her conquerors so easily? Jurel is determined to find out...
This is another great story about the world of Kegin created by Brenna Lyons. It deals with the Lengar, a race which, along with the Magden race and Fion’s Children, peopled Kegin before unification. Although this is a short story (51 pages), it is rich in cultural details, in addition to a great plot, a very sympathetic heroine, and a surprisingly likeable hero. The male/female sex scenes contain light bondage and discipline. In addition, there are graphic descriptions of the violence of war. I do suggest first reading the first Kegin story, Lyons’ Fion’s Daughters, in order to fully understand some of the references in this one. I really enjoyed this story, and hope that Lyons continues telling us about the world of Kegin.
