Laurel Conyers is a graduate student in search of a topic. She wants to do her fieldwork on the primitive society of world NY3410, but it is off-limits to all space travelers. Being an enterprising sort of woman, Laurel stages a space emergency that “forces” her to land on the planet. She figures that she will have two weeks before the rescue team comes to get her, and by that time, she’ll have her data!

Faine D’Arten is a warrior of the people Laurel has come to observe. He sees the ship come down—he knows it is a space ship, and he knows it’s forbidden. But when he sees Laural exit the space ship, he knows that she is the woman with golden hair from his dream—the one destined to be his wife. Faine captures Laurel easily—she’s pretty naive since this is her first trip off the Space Station--and proceeds to communicate with her via her dreams. Will Laurel want to leave when the rescue team arrives?

I thought this was a delightful story, with an eager, naive heroine and a smart and gifted hero. Both of the lead characters were interesting and charming. The rest of the characters kind of served as background, so they were not very well developed. The plot is simple, but it is told well. The author’s style lends itself to the expression of emotion. The man/woman love scenes are sensual and full of feeling, but not exceptionally graphic. I think readers of futuristic romances would enjoy this novella, and recommend it highly.
