Denzel, eerily similar to her custom-order (the face of Denzel Washington, the voice of Sean Connery, the sexual endurance of Spike the Vampire) is persuaded to go along with the deception to save the company from being sued. In 10 days, Col. Harmon would be back at the front, not knowing that she had spent her leave with a real human man. He didn’t count on falling in love with her...

This is a very hot story--with the female protagonist being a soldier on leave, the emphasis on the erotic is quite reasonable. Marti and Denzel are very interesting characters and drawn so as to make them very realistic. While they get to know each other, we get to know them as well, including their childhoods and families, their likes and dislikes, etc. Although the fact that Marti is white and Denzel is black is mentioned in the story, it is not singled out in any way as an issue between them. The several man/woman sex scenes are explicit and steamy, with overtones of sexual domination. The only reason I was dissatisfied with this book is because it ended too quickly and abruptly, leaving me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen to these two people I quickly grew to like. However, since this is the first in the Women of Steel series, I have no doubt that I will soon find out what’s next in the story.
