The publisher classes this short story as extreme erotica but, in my humble opinion, it is really a science fiction story with sex. The premise that a spaceship might have an “official” whore is not a new one. What is unusual is that it is told from the whore’s point of view. This story is very well written, and keeps your attention on every page. The premise being what it is, there are many sexual encounters--many of them quite unusual-but they have a purpose in the plot and are not just thrown in for titillation or shock value. The main characters are carefully developed, and slowly reveal themselves as fully realized beings. This is a skillfully told story, and one that I highly recommend.
