Intergalactic Ranger Lana Eloy is the chief detective in the Ranger’s Homicide Division. She is on the trail of a serial killer of women, which has led her to the male-dominated world Ata Prime. When informed that a known killer is hiding on his planet, the ruler of Ata Prime dismisses Ranger Eloy’s ability to capture this criminal because she is a mere female. He assigns the captain of his royal guard, Corin Thantos, the task of tracking down the killer and apprehending him. Eloy has no intention of standing by while Thantos does her job, so she sets off alone to track the killer. As they each track the killer, they discover that they will find more success by working together than against each other. And they also discover hidden talents in each other...

This is a very well written science fiction novella that contains a good mystery as well as a good love story. The SF is believable and interesting, the plot did not feel contrived to this reader, and the hero and heroine were fully and subtly developed. Ranger Eloy is a capable woman, who is good at her difficult job. Thantos begins as the stereotypical he-man, but then reveals hidden depths to his character. The love scenes are explicit, but written in a style consistent with the story. The pace and tension of the story was maintained throughout, resulting in a story that I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend it!
