Genae is the pilot of an interplanetary transport and is being attacked by League military spaceships during her return from a mission. They are attacking her because she has information that will scandalize the League government and bring it toppling down. As a last resort, Genae crash lands on a nearby planet, YelAsta, and is rescued by Kai, a man who seems to be able to make himself invisible! Kai pulls her out of her ruined ship and hides her when a military search party lands on the planet to find her. Who is Kai, and why is he on YelAsta? What is this secret that Genae holds? What will happen between them if this overwhelming attraction keeps growing?

This is a short story of only 71 pages, in which the author concentrates primarily on developing the relationship between Genae and Kai, and setting up the framework for future installments of the Paladin’s Pride series. The relationship between the two main characters is very intense, with very explicit man/woman sex scenes. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it as a good quick read. However, while the vignette that is told in this story is well-written, tightly plotted, and intriguing, I think it would have benefited by being presented in a longer format. As it is, the story is abruptly cut off with a “To be continued...” leaving the reader hanging in mid-stream.
