Heather Holland's Crimes of Passion is an emotionally stimulating read. The characters are fun and loving. Riley is a strong woman that had to raise a son on her own. When Cort and she come face to face after all the years apart, her first concern is about her son. She doesn't want Cort to know about him so she leaves him with a good friend while she goes to Texas with Cort. While there, she is the victim of many misfortunes, only it turns out that someone is trying to kill her. Cort will do anything to keep her safe though.

Cort is love with Riley and has been since she was sixteen. He never gave up searching for her in the eight years she was missing. When Cort learns he has a son, his quiet fury is what causes Riley to seriously hurt herself. While she's in the hospital he meets his son for the first time. I thought it was a touching moment seeing how their bond was created.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the romance that went on in this story but this is not your ordinary romance. Heather Holland spices this story up with a would-be killer that does terrible things to Riley, only Riley thinks Cort's the target.

This author cleverly pens this tale. I didn't expect the person who was the would-be killer, that came out of nowhere. Heather also puts a lot of time and thought into the telling of this story. She leaves no loose ends and everything is tied up nicely, though this reviewer hopes that Joe eventually gets his own story. To say it simply, it was a good read, one you will not be disappointed in.
