The Knight’s Redemption
Roarke Barret desperately needs a wife. He has been granted a Welsh keep and lands by his king but in order to secure them he must secure a Welsh wife. He has procrastinated until the last possible moment and now must choose a wife from the ladies that Thomas Glamorgan presents to him, and he must choose in the few hours before he sails for France. The only woman that he has seen that he actually wants is the daughter of the manor, Ariana, but according to Lord Glamorgan she is not one of the choices. When he meets her cousin Lady Ceara Llywen, who bears a striking resemblance to Ariana, he decides that she will do nicely for a wife.
Ariana Glamorgan desperately needs a husband. Over a hundred years ago a curse was placed on the women of her family and ever since they have appeared invisible to men, and thus have all died spinsters. Ariana is determined to break the curse so that her nieces can find happiness. She also desperately wants to escape the dreary depressive life that she is forced to reside in thanks to her father’s grief over the death of her mother. She is sure that Roarke is her chance to accomplish both of her goals. With the help of her cousin and a little magic she might just pull it off.
When reading a Joanne Rock book, whether historical or contemporary, I find myself drawn into the story and half way through the book before I realize it. I was immediately intrigued by both Ariana and Roarke. They each have their own reasons for wanting the marriage but they are also irresistibly drawn to each other. The plot is full of mystery, action, romance and a truly dramatic and heroic ending that had me closing the book with a sigh, a smile and a yearning for another Joanne Rock book.
