The Nursery
Susannah Ash's younger sister Amanda drowned at Sleepy Creek Lake years ago, but Susannah hasn't been able to get over her death. The horrifying nightmares she has been suffering from have increased. Susannah's doctor's advice is to travel to the place of her sister's death in order to finally find peace. But things in Accidental, Maryland aren't as they seem. On the surface Accidental seems like a quaint little town, but in reality it is a strange town with even stranger people.
Susannah rented a shabby cabin for a month. She hopes that within that time she will be able to put her dreams to rest. During her first few days she falls and sprains her ankle. While at the hospital she has her first run in with just how strange the people in Accidental can be. The nurses seem unfriendly and uncaring. Strange characteristics for nurses. A nurse herself, Susannah takes a temporary fill-in job at the hospital. Soon she is in way over her head when she uncovers the diabolical scheme of a quack doctor at the hospital. Will discovering the secrets of the sleepy little town also reveal the reasons for her nightmares?
The Nursery is awesome. This tale has a unique and intriguing plot. This is one incredible page-turner that captures the reader’s imagination and interest from the very first page. The nail-biting suspense is so high, the reader will be on the edge of their seat. Susannah is trying to face her fears in order to let them go. Not always an easy thing to do. With Susannah facing her fears she finds herself in a situation beyond her control. Without giving too much of the story away, there is a doctor on the loose who has been playing God and needs to be stopped.
There are some very well written secondary characters as well. Susannah's best friend comes to stay with her over the weekends and is a huge help in answering some of the questions that plague Susannah. The handsome doctor who is also Susannah's land lord for the month is the only sane and normal person that Susannah comes in contact with at the hospital.
Rhonda Kirk has a winner with this gripping tale. This reviewer thoroughly enjoyed The Nursery. Don't start reading this book unless you can spend the whole afternoon reading because once you start you will not be able to stop. This book is very deserving of this 5 angel rating.
