Dreams of April Ten

Dreams of April Ten starts off with a bang as we read about a spontaneous human combustion. From there we are introduced to Scott Adams. Scott’s been dreaming of a woman he calls “April Ten.” The two of them seem to be sharing dreams. When Scott and his friend Charlie are unable to turn up anything concrete on what is going on or who April Ten is, they decide to hire the services of AnswerMan.

Hartley James is the owner of AnswerMan.com. He too has dreams. He’s been dreaming about the fiery deaths of young children and adults since his childhood. One of the individuals he dreams of is a young woman name April Ten. Having no knowledge of his past prior to five years ago, he begins to go to a hypnosis doctor in hopes that she can help him make sense of his dreams.

When Scott shows up at AnswerMan, Hart’s associate agrees to take the case, but only after his he receives consent from his boss. Hart jumps on the investigation with fervid devotion. Soon, his forgotten past begins to emerge with the help of a little hypnosis and some physical investigation on his part.

As Hartley pursues the investigation into who April Ten is and what happened to her, he discovers most of the players involved are not who they appear to be and for each answer he finds, more questions arise. However, that’s not the worst of his problems, time is running out, people are dying and Hart is being drawn further and further into a situation from which he may not come out alive.

Mr. LaFevers explanation of why humans get frostbite resulting in the loss of fingers and toes, hands and feet, while animals do not was something I had never really considered, but made a lot of sense. His development of characters: Scott, Charlie, Hartley, Holly, Kitty, Zahn, Adam and April is nothing short of phenomenal. Readers will find that they either identify with them or they don’t, and that they either like them or they don’t. There is no middle ground; you’ll like some of them and you’ll begin to hate others.Throughoutitallthough, you will find Dreams of April Ten to be a very good read.
