Lady Justice
Gabrielle Kincaid is a member of the Special Detail Unit, an elite group of Secret Service operatives responsible for keeping the homeland safe from the world's worst terrorists. She is considered the best of the best and finds herself continuously working undercover. Her current assignment is to discover which terrorist group is trying to bring the world's economy to its knees through the use of lethal biological viruses. As one biological virus after another begins to be released, Gabrielle finds the very community she lives in threatened. When she's attacked in the comfort of her own home, Gabrielle realizes the terrorists may be responsible and she makes the decision to call a Code Red on herself in order to prevent the possibility of capture, torture, and exposure of other operatives and the SDU. With a ten percent chance of being extricated from her predicament, the possibility of capture and torture by terrorists and the knowledge that she will be killed by one of her fellow operatives, Gabrielle calls in a request to activate her friend and partner, Max Grayson.
Max Grayson has been activated to eliminate a Senior Covert Operative. Unbeknownst to him, the Code Red is on his partner and friend, Gabrielle Kincaid. During the consensus briefing, Max finds out that the SCO is none other than his partner - Gabrielle Kincaid. He's ordered to terminate her because she's become a liability to SDU. Her knowledge of the SDU, its procedures, and its personnel make it imperative that the “Global Warriors” terrorist group does not capture Gabrielle. If they do capture her and are able to torture the information from her, the SDU, which is so secret that only a handful of people are aware of its existence, will become known to the terrorist community at large, not to mention the fact that SDU operatives all over the world will be killed as their secret identities become known.
It's now a race against time for these two agents as they seek to piece together who is pulling the strings and when and where the next lethal virus will be released. Adding to the strain of the situation is the realization of their love for one another and the knowledge that Max must fulfill the Code Red order to terminate Gabrielle or be placed on Code Red status himself for failing to follow orders.
Readers are drawn into Lady Justice very quickly as they begin to identify what is taking place. The terrorist plot grabs the reader because of the devastation that follows the terrorist's acts. Add to that the very real possibility of something like this actually occurring in the world today and it is altogether even more horrifying.
Vicki Hinze provides the readers with descriptions of the characters, details of the viruses, and their dispersal methods, a plot within a plot and so much story that it is impossible not to identify with what is going on. You know and understand Gabrielle's reasoning for not activating Max on prior missions. You're able to understand why Max didn't realize that Gabrielle has loved him all these years. And, you're able to understand why it's recommended or why operatives don't develop attachments for others.
Lady Justice is one suspense thrill after another and a love story thrown in for good measure! I highly recommend reading Lady Justice by Vicki Hinze to everyone loving suspense and/or romantic suspense novels or to ones who just plain love to read.
