Against the Wall
Shea Dresden has done everything but stand on her head in order to get sexy ATF agent Ryan McCall to notice her. When her latest scheme takes her to a dangerous bar in search of Ryan, she gets more than she bargained for when a drunk tries to pick her up, then, unbeknownst to Shea, follows her home. He barges in and tries to attack her but Shea isn’t stupid and struggles hard to defend herself. Luckily, she screams, alerting Ryan, who lives in the apartment next door, and he comes running to the rescue. When Ryan discovers why Shea was at Red’s Bar he gets pissed and a bit jealous of all the men who saw her dressed up in a sexy black dress. Ryan’s determined to show her that he isn’t the man for her, that their worlds are too different. She’s an academic studying for her PhD and Ryan deals with criminals on a day-to-day basis. There’s no way that these two opposites can get together, but Shea is hell bent on proving to Ryan that not only do opposites attract, but that the chemistry between opposites can be explosive. Against the Wall is an erotic journey from the first page to the very end.
This is an erotica story, so if that isn’t your favorite type of story, this book might not be the best choice, but, if you love passionate characters that are willing to fight for what they want, Against the Wall is the perfect story to pick up. Shea is a great heroine. She is gutsy and willing to put aside her love for Ryan in order to spend even a little time with him. She knows that Ryan is the perfect man for her, but she isn’t ignorant of his flaws either. Nevertheless, it is Ryan who steals the show in this story. He is emotional, sexy, physical, loving, and a great alpha male who is very possessive of Shea. Until meeting Shea, Ryan didn’t know what he was missing. He tried to deny himself Shea, believing he wasn’t good enough for her, but when push came to shove, he couldn’t keep his hands off her or keep his heart safe from her love. His journey from elusive bachelor to caring lover is an extraordinary story. Be warned though, this story contains very gritty sexual dialogue. It is very tastefully done, but if you don’t like raw sex talk, this might not be the story for you. I loved it personally, it added to the flavor of the story, and I liked how Shea wasn’t afraid to talk dirty back to Ryan. She didn’t hold herself back from him, despite her worries that he would only want her for a short fling. Against the Wall is a gripping and powerful tale of love and lust and all the emotions that are part of love’s adventure. If you like Lori Foster or Janelle Denison, Rhyannon Byrd’s story will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
