Just before moving to Chicago to start working at a new accounting firm, Miranda Dale has one last uninhibited night out with her friends in Albany. She’s at a bar when she sees a tall, dark and handsome stranger staring at her. Before she knows it, she’s consumed too much alcohol and starts dancing on the table, taking off her bra and giving it to the sexy stranger. Though very embarrassed the next day, she shrugs it off as she knows she’ll never see the man again.

Jack Steele will never forget his business trip to Albany because of the beautiful woman who gave him her bra, and still features in his nightly dreams. He tries to forget her as he has much more important things on his mind, namely sexual harassment allegations brought against him by his former junior accountant Celeste Sharpe. But everything flees his mind when he sees his mystery woman in the building of the accounting firm. Sure, she has a shorter haircut and she’s wearing a business suit, but he knows that face and Jack knows that Miranda Dale, new junior accountant, is the woman who performed the sexy striptease for him. Jack’s problems just took a turn for the worse because he wants Miranda and he’s having a very hard time fighting the chemistry that blazes between them.

For Miranda’s part, she knows it isn’t good to want Jack. But as she gets to know him, she not only starts to fall in love with him, but she comes to admire him for the kind, caring, and generous man he is. She doesn’t believe that Jack would ever sexually harass a woman and while she wants to be with him, she knows that now isn’t the time or the place for a new love affair. Will these two be able to ever get together or is their love destined to be unrequited?

Lasting Impression certainly made a great impression on this reader. Funny and endearing, the characters of Jack and Miranda are obviously perfect for each other, but it was intriguing to see how Charlotte Vye created all the twists and turns that they had to go through in order to find happiness with each other. This was a well thought out story, from the first detail to the last, and it was definitely a page-turner. There was plenty of heat and passion between Miranda and Jack, but more importantly the author managed to convey how the heat turned into love and the hope for a future. Jack knows right away that Miranda is the woman for him, he sees that she is just the kind of person he would like to spend the rest of his life with. Miranda, though more uncertain in the beginning, eventually comes to realize that Jack is her soul mate, the person she can tell her deepest secrets too, even those involving her past work as an erotic dancer. Charlotte Vye has another winner on her hands with Lasting Impression. Be sure to pick up your copy as soon as you can, the love story between Jack and Miranda is a treat to read.
