Lorraine Kennedy Interview

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Lorraine Kennedy. Thanks for being here today Lorraine, welcome to FAR!
Hello and thank you for having me here today.

To start, can you tell us a little bit about your current release Song of the Annunaki?
Song of the Annunaki is a futuristic romance, loosely based off of translations from ancient Sumerian texts. The Sumerians are considered to be the first civilized society on earth and the Annunaki were their Gods. Annunaki translates into “Those who came from Heaven to Earth.” One of the beliefs of today is that the Annunaki were space travelers who colonized earth in ancient times.

In Song of the Annunaki, the Gods of the Sumerians are appalled by mankind’s corrupt behavior and have returned to earth to destroy their creations. This story weaves many of fringe beliefs of today such as, alien abduction, DNA tampering, and hybrid humans, together with ancient beliefs.

The heroinee, Samura is in a race against time to save Earth, while Thian, a leader of the Annunaki, is campaigning for the destruction of humans. These two adversaries are thrown together on a mission to conquer the reptilian race that is invading earth and avoid a galactic war. The chemistry between Samura and Thian turns into an inferno of passion, but their love is forbidden by Annunaki law.

I learned from your website that you love to travel. Where is your favorite place to go?
There are so many places that I like to visit. One of my favorites is New Orleans. It is an enchanting city with lots of character. I also love theme parks, so Southern California and Florida are near the top of my list of favorite places.

Is there any place that you haven’t been that you’d love to go see?
I would love to visit Transylvania and South Africa.

Do you get inspiration for your stories from places you have traveled to?
Yes. Often my inspiration comes from a place I have visited. It is amazing how a romantic or unique place can stir the imagination.

Could you tell us a little bit about your upcoming story The Pirate's Dark Revenge?
The Pirate’s Dark Revenge is a Paranormal Romance set in the Caribbean. The heroinee, Rebecca Ashton is haunted by a family curse and the ghost of a pirate. Her grandfather has disappeared while out to sea, so she sets out to find him and dispel the notion of a family curse. Instead of putting to rest the myth of a curse, she finds herself thrown back, three hundred years into the past, where she falls in love with the captain of the Dark Revenge, Jonas Shelton. Rebecca must find a way to change history or lose the man she loves forever.

The Pirate’s Dark Revenge will be available soon from New Concepts Publishing.

To you, what makes a great hero?
For me, a great hero would be a man who is not only masculine and sexy, but compassionate. He must know how to love as passionately and deeply as the heroine. On the outside he can be a villain, but on the inside he should be kindhearted and willing to learn and grow from his mistakes.

Everyone has a different perspective on "getting away from it all" and a good book often helps to satisfy an escapist urge. As a reader or an author, what are the essential elements for you in good escapist reading?
When I turn to a book as an escape from the turmoil of everyday life, I like to be taken to different worlds and realities. A place where anything is possible and there’s always a happy ending.

Congratulations! You just won a year off from work to travel anywhere in the world and write the story of your dreams. Where do you go, what type of book do you write, and what’s the title?
I would definitely want to travel to England to stay in a castle for a year. I have always wanted to write a saga based on historical events. An English castle would be the perfect setting to do this. Though I may not have the luxury of writing the story in a castle, I may be starting on this project sometime in the coming year, so I can’t reveal the title just yet.

When did you first start writing? What made you want to become a writer?
I first started writing in grade school. Reading has always been one of my favorite pastimes and I read my first, full length novel at 7 years old. That was Jaws. I was thrilled by the stories I read, which led a desire to write my own stories. I found it exhilarating to create stories about different people and places.

If you weren't a writer, what would you be?
I would probably be in the field of either Archeology or Criminal Justice. These were both subjects I studied in college, and in fact, worked in the field of Criminal Justice for several years.

How do you keep your ideas fresh and imaginative?
Most often, I have more ideas than I have time to put them to paper. The one thing I’ve found that helps to promote fresh ideas is to pay attention to the world around you. There are so many people, places and concepts out there. It would be hard not to come across something inspiring.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us today?
I would like to thank Fallen Angel Reviews for having me here today and providing a great resource for those of us who love reading. I would also like to thank those people who read romances and give writers an audience to whom they can tell their stories.
My website is frequently updated with news of upcoming releases and current promotions if your readers would like to check it out.
