Kate Willoughby Interview

Today I am speaking with Kate Willoughby. Hi Kate! Welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews! It is a joy to have you with us today. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer some questions. The readers would love to hear something about Kate Willoughby.
It's my pleasure! I really like giving interviews. Makes me feel like a celebrity! Next thing you know, I'll be requesting a trailer and a limo.

Why not start off telling the readers about Kate?
I'm a wife and mother of two boys. I started writing seriously about five years ago and now have three books published, two with Liquid Silver Books and one with Phaze Publishing. A fourth story is due out from Ellora's Cave next year as part of their Caveman anthology series. I also write short romantic fiction for Woman's World Magazine. The funny thing is, my Woman's World stuff is very tame, and my other work is extremely steamy. I guess I'm a bit of a Dr. Jekyll - Ms. Hyde writer!

Kate, when I visited your website, I noticed lots of great reviews. Would you care to share some words about your latest release?
Losing It, from Liquid Silver Books, is a light-hearted contemporary story about a prim scientist and her hunky, knock-knock joke telling contractor. Ben is one of my favorite heroes. He's just so dang loveable, and although Charlotte is perfect for him, I'm almost jealous of her! Heh heh.

What would you consider your greatest book that you have written?
I guess if I had to choose one, it's probably Losing It. I like to think it's got humor, great sex, likable characters, and is a book that will leave you smiling.

Do you have any words of encouragement for unpublished writers?
All unpublished writers should remember that getting rejected is part of the journey all writers take. Rejections are just potholes in that journey. Don't give up just because you hit one, or even twenty, because when you finally get published, it makes it all worth it.

Also, it is not YOU they are rejecting. It's the story that you submitted. Not everyone will like every story, so if Editor A doesn't like your vampire Cinderella story, maybe Editor B will.

What do you think is the most rewarding thing about being a writer?
The most rewarding thing is hearing from readers because, unlike a review, reader response is always voluntary. That's not to say that I don't appreciate a good review, it's just that I find it especially meaningful that a stranger took time out of their day to tell me they enjoyed my writing, just because.

Do you enjoy hearing from your readers?
Yes, yes, yes (see above!) I adore hearing from readers and think that it is such a great time to be a writer. The Internet allows readers to connect with authors like never before. When I was young, I had to send fan letters to the publisher and cross my fingers that they would find their way to the author. Now, interaction can be only a few mouse clicks away. How cool is that?!

What type of books do you enjoy reading?
I read romance, mostly, but I do enjoy suspense, historical fiction, and thrillers. I read a lot of children's and young adult fiction with my sons, too.

Do you have any time to relax and if so, how do you spend your time?
Yes, I get time to relax. I think it's important to my health. I enjoy scrapbooking, cooking, and assorted crafts. My craft of choice right now is making friendship bracelets.

If you could go anywhere, be anyone, do anything for 24 hours, what would it be?
I'm under five feet tall, so it'd be fantastic to be tall and beautiful. Thin would be nice, too! I'd also like to have the kind of mathematical ability that would enable me to have an edge in a casino. Somewhere exotic, like Monte Carlo, maybe. :D That way I could make a nice little nest egg for myself while getting male attention that usually doesn't come my way. (Look up wallflower in the dictionary and my picture is there!)

Do you have any indulgent behaviors one might find surprising?
I like video games and can sometimes get addicted to them. My writing will suffer greatly if they come out with a third Sly Cooper PS2 game. Once I get started with one of those, I play often into the wee hours for as many days as it takes to win. Yeah, I need a twelve-step program.

For Fun: What's your favorite comfort food?
Oh, there are too many to list here! French fries, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Moscato wine, ice cream are the top five. (See wish above regarding thinness.)

Is this the only website you have or do you have another that you would like to share with your readers? http://kate-willoughby.com
I also have a blog: http://katewilloughby.blogspot.com/

Is there anything that you would like to add to this interview?
I want to let readers know that I'm totally open to any criticism. I have a pretty tough skin and truly appreciate observations and/or opinions about my writing. So feel free to contact me, even if you want to tell me about something that didn't grab you.

Thank you so much for sharing time with us, Kate. Anyone interested in reading more about Kate and her spectacular books, please visit her website to read more about her incredible works. It has been a joy, Kate, and I wish you success with your writing.
You're welcome. The pleasure was entirely mine.
