I am delighted to be speaking with
Michelle O’Neill today. Thanks for chatting with us today
Michelle and welcome to FAR!
Hi Tammy and thanks for having me.
To start, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Sure. I was born in Los Angeles, CA but I've really lived all over. My current home is sunny Florida. I started writing a few years ago and found I loved it, especially science fiction and romantic erotica. My first exposure to erotica was probably Ann Rice's Beauty's Release (written under A.N. Roquelitaure) and Jaid Black's The Empress' New Clothes. Both those books were so fun and fresh to me, I decided to try writing some myself. The result was The Love Machine.
Could you tell readers a little bit about your current release,
The Love Machine?
I love bad boys and the badder the better. Alpha males, the strong silent type, are irresistible to me, so I created Maximillian with a lot of sci fi villains in mind. I've read a number of works where the hero is sort of an android, you know, close but still has some human elements. That got me thinking, I know I can create a sexy android that is really sexy even if he's not human. So I gave Max some hidden talents that no human man could match.
What’s one thing you would like your readers to know about you?
Probably that I love hearing from my readers. I also think of myself more as an entertainer than a writer, I want you to come away from my stories thinking, 'Wow, that was a lot of fun!' I'm always looking for something fresh and exciting to make my stories both arousing and interesting. A good story should be a perfect escape.
What is your most favorite part of being a writer? The least favorite?
Probably my favorite part is creating new people and places. It's a challenge but when you get a story just right, it’s really rewarding. The least favorite is revising, yuck!
If you could pick any celebrity to be on the cover of your book, who would it be and why?
Daniel Craig, the new James Bond (for his rugged looks) or Alan Rickman of Harry Potter fame. I loved Alan in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, I think he's the perfect villain.
Can you tell us a little about your upcoming release The Android's Kiss, that’s due out in April from Whiskey Press?
The Android's Kiss is a softer android story than The Love Machine. The heroine is a tough cop out to capture a cyborg villain who's destroying androids for their parts. The only thing she doesn't count on is a Viper Series android called Proteus falling in love with her. Proteus is a romantic alpha, so for those readers who thought Max was too hard, they'll probably like Proteus.
If you could meet any one person (past or present) and ask them only one question -Who would it be, and what would your question be?
I think it would be fun to have a sit down with Ann Rice. I'd probably ask her how she came up with the idea of Interview With the Vampire.
Your short story
Moonshine by Day or Night was featured on the Nocturnal Ooze website for their Sept/Oct 2006 issue. Can you tell us a little more about it?
Moonshine is a horror story about being careful what you wish for. Most of my short fiction is horror only because sci fi usually needs more room to develop the story. Short stories are great exercises for a writer and I try to write them whenever I get the time. It's also fun to try and creep out my writers group. LOL
Which of the characters you have created would you say is most like you? Which character do you wish you could be (if there is one)?
Oddly enough, probably General Gavin Theron from my sci fi novel, Naked Venom> is most like me in personality. He's a huge mix of myself and a few other people who had a big influence on my early life. In some ways, I wish I could be more like Natasha Morrison from The Love Machine, she's a lot more sexually free that I ever was. LOL
You have 3 wishes, what are they?
(laughing) To be as famous a writer as Amanda Quick
To win the Florida Lottery
To write such great stories that people shower me with roses whenever they see me.
Could you tell us what you’re currently working on?
I just completed the first draft of a psychic romance called Midnight Becomes You. It’s the steamy story of a woman who gets recruited into a secret organization because of her ability to see the future. She ends up having lots of weird adventures and falls for the very sexy leader. Sparks will fly!
I'm also very close to finishing another erotic story about a hard working business woman who gets involved with a half demon exotic dancer. This story is very hot, hot, hot and not for the faint of heart!
Is there anything else you would like add?
