Patricia Stewart Interview
Today I am speaking with Patricia Stewart. Hi Patricia and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews today.
Why not tell the readers something about Patricia Stewart? I’m a pretty easy-going person, with an intense desire to understand the non-understandable. Creatively, I aim to provide an outlet to laugh, cry, nod, and hopefully inspire others to strive to make sense out of disappointments. There is always a lesson to be learned, and I believe we’re all students of life.
Do you have any releases that you would care to tell us about? Yes, my poetry compilation Loveless in a Lonesome World, a poetic journey through the feelings of love, despair, and transformation, is now available worldwide! So far, both men and women have been relating to this body of work with comments such as “I can relate,” “comfort-reading,” and “inspiring.”
Are there any upcoming projects that we can look forward to? I am completing my next poetry book with the working title of The Space between the Felt and Seen, as well as the screenplay Hold Fast, an action/drama/romance: When Anna Fallon's first love, Eric Base, is arrested and scheduled for extradition, she and her best friend, devise a meticulous plan for a jailbreak. Detective Jeff Lowry investigates this case with his own special interests while the three fugitives wrestle nature, the law, and ultimately themselves, when love is not what it seems.
What is your favorite part of a book to write, the beginning, middle or end? When writing long-form, I write wherever the inspiration hits; however, if I had to choose which part I like best, it is the ending, the feeling of resolution that really ties the whole piece together.
How many hours a day do you spend writing? 2-3 hours Monday-Thursday, and 7-8 hours on either Saturday or Sunday.
What does your workstation look like? Are you an organized person? My desk faces a wall, but I have imaginative prints above it. A large window is to my left overlooking a busy city street. I usually light candles when I brainstorm, but keep the full lights on when under a deadline. I like to be organized. It’s refreshing to begin the day with a neat workspace.
Do you go with the flow or form an outline when you write? It depends on the project. With pose & poetry, I go with the flow, and organize it in the rewrite. For screenplays, I write with the flow, and then list the scenes in an outline.
What is the best advice that anyone ever gave you? Not to “make mountains out of molehills.” Everything takes time, have patience. Another friend once said, “Do not despair, the picture isn’t yet fully painted.” I find all these remarks full of wisdom.
What are some of your hobbies besides writing? I love photography, reading, traveling, philosophy, and astronomy.
If you could visit any place in the world for a week, where would you go for some rest and recreation? Hmmm… now that’s a good question!! I would love to go back to Paris and see the rest of the Louvre, and/or spend some time in Greece.
Was there any one person or event in your life that finally inspired you to sit down and write your first book? One of my best friends really encouraged me to put Loveless in a Lonesome World out there. These poems are from the ages of 15-29, and I never really knew for sure if I’d make them public. Steve said, “This is really good stuff – others will relate and understand that they are not alone.” So, I sent in an inquiry to PublishAmerica, based in Maryland, and the rest is history.
Do you have a favorite movie that you could watch over and over again? I absolutely love “The ‘burbs!” That movie cracks me up every time. Never fails.
Patricia, do you have a website that you would like to share with your readers? I’m working on my own website, but for now, please check me out at myspace.com/patriciacstewart
Do you belong to any groups, or loops that help you promote your writing? I currently belong to a screenwriting group that meets every three weeks. I studied film/video in college and continue to write in that arena as well.
Patricia, it has been a pleasure having you with us today. We look forward to reading your books and your upcoming works. Thank you, Linda, I’ve enjoyed being here.
