Shiela Stewart Interview

Hello Shiela Stewart and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews. It is really great to have you with us. Everyone is anxious to hear about Shiela and her delightful works.

Before we start on your book releases, why not tell us a bit about yourself?
Good day Linda, and all the readers out there. Tell a little about myself? Not much to say, really. I’ve been married to the same wonderful man for twenty-two years. We have three beautiful children, all in their teens. I have five cats, one black lab dog, six Angel fish and three turtles. When I’m not writing, I tend to my family, as well as maintain a website for a non-profit organizations I belong to called the, Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans of Canada.

I noticed that you have a release out with the Passion Series. Discovery In Passion tells us about Cassie Evans and the town of Passion, along with Thomas Healey. Then I believe you have another release scheduled for January 2008 Escape in Passion and in March 2008, Mercy in Passion. Why not enlighten us on the Passion Series and the first book with Cassie and Thomas?
You are correct, Linda. All three books will be released within two months of the last. So very exciting!

Discovery in Passion is a paranormal/contemporary romance set in the fictional small town of Passion.

Cassie Evans has just inherited a large sum of money from her grandfather, with the stipulation to do something lucrative with it. So she moves from her family and sets up in Passion. She buys a house and starts up a small business selling trinkets and doo-dads.

When she meets sexy handyman/artist, Thomas Healy, she’s determined to make him hers. Hiring him to do renovations in her home, she sets her sites on seducing him in every way she can think of. But what she doesn’t expect, is to learn her house is haunted.

Determined to help put the three restless spirits at peace, she digs into the reasons for their death and uncovers a secret.

The problem is, like with most secrets, the person or persons keeping it would rather keep it hidden. And when Cassie persists, including bringing in the RCMP, her life becomes endangered. Will Thomas be able to save her, before it’s too late?

Can you share a bit about the upcoming releases too?
I most certainly can.

Escape in Passion is book two, and is the story of Staff Sergeant, Victor Davis, best friend of Thomas and Cassie Healy. Victor Davis moves to small town Passion to escape his past. The problem is, it’s followed him in the form of sexy, Julia Wilson.

Determined to get behind the truth of her sisters death, and Vic’s involvement, Julia is prepared to do anything to get her answers. Including, seducing the enemy. But keeping her true identity a secrets isn’t so easy to do, when her brother in-law and Vic’s enemy shows up in town. And falling in love with Vic was not in her plan.

But when Vic discovers the truth, he wants nothing to do with her. Until his enemy takes her captive.

Will he be able to forgive the woman he loves? And will he be able to save her from a man bent on revenge?

Mercy in Passion book three is the story of Vic and Julia’s son, and Thomas and Cassie’s Daughter.

Justin Davis has always lived on the wild side. In his youth he was a bad-ass and after a heated argument with his father, Justin packs his bags and leaves town.

Six years later he waltzes back into Passion with the hopes of making amends. But can his family, his father, forgive him? More importantly, Can his long time friend, Beth Healy forgive him.

She’s been in love with Justin since she was young. But now that he’s come back to town, Officer Beth Healy doesn’t know what to feel. She’s angry at him for leaving her without so much as a goodbye, and she’s angry that for six years he never once called to say hi. But she loves him with all her heart. Can she put the past behind her and let him in? And will it be in time to save him from an enemy form his past?

Was it hard to develop this series?
Not at all. The first story came to my like so many of mine do. In a rush. And while I was writing it, writing Vic’s character into the ending, I knew he had to have his own story. And I knew it would have to be something that put this lady’s man in his place. I’d barely finished writing, Discovery when Escape was begging to be let free. Once those were finished, I though…what if the children from these two got together in the future, and thus, Mercy was born.

As I told my editor, it took me two weeks to write each individual book. When a story comes to me, I’m compelled to put it down as quickly as possible.

Of Contemporary and Paranormal, which of the two do you prefer the most, or is it about average on both genres?
I must confess, I am a die-hard Paranormal freak. LOL Having had some “ghostly” visitors, I write from first hand knowledge. I love anything that goes bump in the night. :-)

What do you find are the best elements in making any great story?
One would be great characters the readers can relate to. Two: would be an intriguing story that pulls the reader in and makes them not want to put it down.

Do you do most of the promoting of your books?
Yes I do. Though I find it very daunting at times.

What does your working space look like?
I work on a laptop, on a tray, in my favorite comfy chair. Beside me on a glass table is my beverage of choice, usually iced tea or pepsi, note pad, pen and my Strunk and Whites, Elements of Style. I am usually listening to Dance music or pop while I write.

Do you outline your stories or do you just write as you go?
Sometimes I outline, sometimes I don’t. When I outline, I do a brief one, just enough to give me the origin of the story and then I work from there.

Tell your fans something about you they would never guess.
I’m actually quite shy. Yep, I’m an introvert.

Shiela, can you give us your website, myspace or any loops you might have?
Certainly. My website is at: shielasbooks.ca. You can find out just about everything you need to know about me and my books there. And some other goodies as well.

I have a Yahoo group called, Romantic Desires. To join, go to: groups.yahoo.com/group/shielasromanticdesires/?yguid=311413488

And a blog where I showcase my work as well as other authors. romancewithshielastewart.blogspot.com/

Do you have a favorite movie that you could watch over and over and never grow tired of it?
Right now I’m stuck on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I could watch Johnny and Orlando all day long. LOL

Are you more of a night person or a day person?
A day person, though I do suffer from insomnia quite often and tend to do some of my best work during those time periods of lack of sleep.

A beach person or someone who loves to be at a ski-lodge?
I’m an oddity. I love the beach, but not the water. And I tend to like the beach more at sunset than any other time of day.

Congratulations! You just won a year off from work to travel anywhere in the world and write the story of your dreams. Where do you go, what type of book do you write, and what’s the title?
You’re giving me a free vacation to anywhere and you want me to work? LOL

I have always wanted to visit real life castles. So, Scotland, England, or anywhere with castles. From there, I know a story would bloom about knights and damsels in distress.:-)

Shiela, I noticed that your favorite moment of the day is sunset. I bet you see some lovely sunsets in Canada. You stay quite busy with your family, your animals and maintaining websites. If your wish hasn’t come true yet, I hope you and your husband will finally have that honeymoon. It has been a joy today and I wish you the best in your writing career.
Thank you Linda, for this wonderful interview. And no, I have haven’t been on that honeymoon yet. But seeing as though you just gave me a free trip to anywhere in the world, my dream is about to come true. LOL
