In a world of romantic erotica there are authors who specialize in certain themes. We are honored to have one such author in the Fallen Angel Reviews’ chair today.
Marie Rochelle of Ocean’s Mist Press is here, an up and coming diva specializing in hot and sexy interracial romance. Welcome
Marie!!
Rachelle, Thank you so much for the compliment. I’ve very honored to be here with you today. I was very shocked that you wanted to interview me.
Marie, not sure about your part of the world but it’s cold and brisk here. So please feel free to grab a cup of hot chocolate and a warm blanket as we sit here and get to know
Marie and her world of
Coffee and Cream. Please correct me if I’m wrong but with your latest Valentine’s Day release this makes book number four? How does it feel and did you ever imagine last year you would be a multi-published author with a horde of loyal fans following your work?
Yes, Pamper Me is my fourth release and I’m very excited about that. I’m still in shock by how many people have welcomed me with open arms. I love all the fans that I have and I hope they keep coming back. It gives me such a wonderful feeling when I get emails from my fans telling me about how much they have enjoyed my books.
Seeing that this is the week for lovers, can you tell our readers about
Pamper Me your latest OMP offering? I have to say if the cover is anything like the actual story readers are in for a treat.
Pamper Me is an amazing book. Nicey Johnson is a woman who is used to finding love for other people and believes she doesn’t need a man until the sexy, drop-dead gorgeous Spencer Carlton comes into her life.
Spencer is looking for love and without a doubt believes Nicey is the woman that can give it to him.
I can’t tell you anymore, but I can say Nicey and Spencer burn up the pages.
I read your book
Taken By Storm and have seen the rave reviews from your fans. I have to admit to being curious about the direction you took with the story. Without giving away too much of it, I was a little surprised at the complete 180 the heroine took with her life towards the end and the drastic measures of the hero to get her back. Was this written for pure shock value or do you believe in adding a lot of realism to your romances?
No, it wasn’t for shock value. I believe after what Syleena went through with Storm, she didn’t see any other way to go. I want readers to feel Syleena’s pain, but also have them rooting for Storm to be able to win her back. So I guess I like my romances to have some realism to them. I hope after one of my fans finishes one of my books that they’ll remember the characters and the emotions they felt.
Marie,
The Men of CCD Book One is on the coming soon page at your publisher. Can you tell our readers about this new series and what we can expect from the
Men of CCD?
Hayward Campbell is the first book in the Men of CCD series, his story is Loving True. He’s an alpha male that has been hurt in the past and only one woman will be able to heal him. You can expect hot, sexy alpha males that will do anything to keep the women they have fallen in love with. There will be other books featuring the Men of CCD.
Before I forget, what does CCD stand for? lol I’ve been curious about that since I saw the book cover. Which let me say is another hot addition to your collection of covers that entice and excite.
I can’t give it away. You just have to read and find out that little secret.
Marie when I’ve listened to other authors who deal in books with women of color sometimes they mention a disconnect between themselves and publishers. Do you feel there is a quandary with mainstream publishers accepting the appeal of interracial romances?
I don’t feel there’s a quandary between mainstream publishers accepting the appeal of interracial romances, but I do feel they need to leave the same formula they’re used to behind for a little while and branch out. They’re probably a lot of amazing unpublished books (IR) out there just waiting for the right mainstream publishing to say yes!
Since becoming a published author what has been your most memorable moment? Also if you could add any tidbits of wisdom for aspiring authors what would it be?
Of Course, my first memorable moment happened when I saw Taken by Storm on the OMP homepage for the very first time. I’ll never forget that.
Marie, your current publisher has gone through a few growing pains since its inception; with the latest being a loss of a few of its prime authors. Through it all you’ve remained steadfast and a part of Ocean’s Mist Press’ growth. Can you tell our readers about your publisher and why they have garnered such loyalty from you as an author?
OMP took a chance on me as a new writer when other publishers didn’t.
Now on to the personal questions… You didn’t think you could sit in the FAR interviewee chair and not have me delve a little into your personal life did you?
So for starters Marie, are you a full time writer and if not is that a dream of yours?
I enjoy writing my books. They give me a lot of pleasure. I haven’t really thought about becoming a full-time writer.
Ok, I have to ask, are your family and childhood friends also loyal fans AND readers of your published books?
Yes, I’ve wonderful support from my family and friends. They’re very proud of me.
If I were to take a quick glance at your Internet Explorer favorites, which sites do you visit on a daily basis?
I visit a lot of writing website more than any other sites.
As an author do you ever have time for pleasure reading and who are some of your automatic buy authors?
When I get the chance I love curling up on the couch with a good book. Reading a well-written book has to be my fave pastime.
I have to ask before we close out this interview, what is the best IR themed story you’ve read in the last 12 months? Want to make sure I haven’t missed a must have. lol
I can’t name just one when I’ve read two. J.S. Hawley’s “Come with Me,” and Shelly Laurenston’s “The Distressing Damsel.” I can’t wait until the sequels come out.
Marie, I appreciate the time you’ve taken out of your evening to allow Fallen Angel Reviews and their readers a more in depth look at you as an author. Can you give us a sneak preview of any upcoming projects you are currently working on?
I’m working on the third book in the Men of CCD series. In addition, I’ve four more books about to be released through OMP.
Loving True: The Men of CCD Book One
Slow Seduction: The Men of CCD Book Two
All the Fixin’
Beneath the Surface
