Today I am speaking with
Dahlia Rose.
Hi
Dahlia! It is great to have you with us. Thank you for taking time to answer some questions.
Thanks It great to be here at Fallen Angels
What an interesting cover picture on your website. I noticed you have two books,
The Lover’s Diary and
Paradise Found. Why not tell the readers a little about each book?
Well first off "The Lovers Diary" is my baby. It was released on June 9th and it was the first book I ever wrote and the first one I ever got contracted. It is about James and Dahlia and the love that they have built upon. Dahlia has a fear of Fallen in love and when she does it scares her. James it there every step of the way to show her that he is not going anywhere and his love will always be with her. This book is filled with passion and erotica. This book is fiction but based on some of my own personal relationship. It was kind of a tribute to the Prince Charming I found after a lot frogs who hopped into my life...LOL
"Paradise Found" released July 8th is my novel about a crazed stalker hunting his next victim. A woman named Kelly who saw him posing the last girl he killed in the park. Now to keep her safe the man assigned to protect her (Lt. TJ Chapel) must do everything in his power to keep her safe including taking to her to the island where she was born. This killer is relentless and follows then both to the island. Now in between the danger passion flares between this couple. Will they be able to find love with a madman on their heels.
Both these books are with Mardi Gras Publishing and are both released!
Are there any other upcoming projects that you are working on?
I have a new release with Star Dust Press. It is called "When Angel Falls" and it is my first vampire novel. It was released on June 18th. This book about a sexy vampire called Christopher who has walked the earth alone for five hundred years. Until he meets Alana, to save her life he passes on the gift that he had always called a curse. She hates him for it until she finds out her destiny as a witch is mixed with her being a vampire. The sire of Christopher is a madman and he feels when Christopher passes on his blood. His has uncovered an evil that is older than the undead immortals and both are hunting the new couple.
There are also some Coming soons in my future "Of Gods and One Woman" with be released with Aphrodite's Apples in August. Book 1 of my vampire series "The Collette Saga" will be released with Star Dust in September.”An Eternal Flame" is a love story and my tribute to 9/11 and the firefighters of New York. It will be released in September with Mardi Gras Publishing. "Caribbean Blue" will be released in November and ”When Love Commands" will be released in January, Both are with Phaze publishing. "Velvet, Leather and Roses" will be coming soon with Amira Press and their Simply Erotic line.
"Midnight Encounters" is an anthology written with my writing and promotional group called the The Midnight Muses. This Halloween Anthology will be out in October and it includes stories from myself, Crymsyn R Hart, Sabrina Luna and Eliza Gayle. If you would like to friend us on my space here is where you go http://www.myspace.com/themidnightmuses
Whew I think that is all for now. LOL.
Do you get along with your editors?
Yes I do, I love my editors from all the publishing companies I work with. They all have different styles of editing but they all work hard to make my books the best they can be. From each of them I learn some thing new that helps me when I write a new manuscript. I can tighten up my work and my lots considerable and that helps in the long run when edits come due. So to my editors "Thanks ladies! Smooches!"
What do you think about Internet publishing and E-Books?
Gosh I can't say enough positive things about E-Books and Internet publishing. If give us smaller authors our first steps and a way to get our books out to the public. That is how I got my start and even if I do get to a NY publisher one of the days. These will be areas in the writing world I will not forget and will continue to submit to. It has become a passion of mine and I plan not to forget how I began in a career I love.
Has there been a particular character that you hated to say good-bye to, once your book was completed?
I Hate saying goodbye to most of my characters, I always feel a little bit nostalgic when i complete a book. I'd have to say though when James and Dahlia's Story was done in The Lover's Diary. I shed a few tears because it was so close to my heart.
Do you ever suffer writers block?
Yes I do it does not happen often but when it does I go dance it out. I try to find other activities to stimulate my creativity as much as possible. So every week I find something fun or exciting to do. This week ride a mechanical bull! LOL. I am so serious.
What would you tell a beginning author seeking a publisher?
I'd say fine tune your work and have some one who will give you a positive but firm critique read it over and give it an edit before you submit. I still do that right now and my Critique partner/editor still finds errors in my work and point them out. Submit it and regardless if it is a refusal letter do not take it as a failure. Fine tune your book some more and resubmit it. If being an author is your dream never see a refusal as failure it is just to tell you to work harder.
While writing, how does the story develop for you? Do you go from start to finish or create scenes as they come to you?
I create the story as I go along from beginning to end. I can usually see my story line in my head and know where I want my characters to go from the beginning of the manuscript. I can't tell you how many times I get up in the middle of the night with an idea for the next chapter and I spend the rest of the night clicking away at the keys.
Dahlia, what would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
LOL really you want me to answer this question? Ok. Hmmmm, I have a fear of Zombies movies. Don’t watch em at all. But I love scary moves believe it or not. I love to sing and I can do it very well but no one ever heard except my kids and maybe the bathroom walls. I am a big kid at heart, I love cartoons and there are many a picture lately of me turning cartwheels in the grass or playing with the super soaker waters guns. Ok that's enough I can't ruin my reputation of hot erotic author. LOL
Do you have a habit that you know you will never change?
I would have to say that my addiction to coffee and chocolate will never change. I tried to quit coffee for a few weeks needless to say they begged me to go back drinking it. LOL
Do you have any pet peeves?
I'm a very laid back person who like to have fun and seriously there is really nothing that bothers me so much I will call it a peeve. It all rolls off my back :)
Is there anything else you would like to share with your readers?
Buy my books...LOL. No seriously for my readers I'd say dance to your own music and don’t care who is watching. Live your life in love and love the life you live. Ok enough of all the Zen stuff have fun people we only get one shot at it in this life! LOL
For Fun: Hot showers or soothing bubble baths?
I am decadent so I would have to say bubble bath with the candles and soft music and chocolate covered strawberries to boot. Can I add in Clive Owen as well. Or is that just my fantasy :)
I do love your
website. Do you belong to any loops?
Thanks! I am a member of many loops and a new member of EPIC. My own personal loop is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Dahliarose/
