Jacquelyn A. Bryant Interview

Today we are speaking with Jacquelyn A. Bryant. Welcome, Jacquelyn, and thank you for joining us today.

Jacquelyn, why not tell us about your book and where you got the idea to compose it?
Well my book, Love Sweet Love is a book of sensual and erotic poetry based on love and all the feelings it brings out from the start thru the climax of most erotic moments. It’s a range of poetry about the sweetest feelings of love to the height of passion and desire. The idea for me to compose it came from my feelings of love and intimacy. I was on a high from love and desire and I wrote my feelings down and decided to get it published. But, first I had a few of my friends read it who are brutally honest and they loved it so I knew it would be a good book to have published.

Do you have any future projects we can look forward to?
Yes, I have a story that will be included in Zane’s Choc Flava 2 tentatively scheduled to be out in August 2007. That for me is very exciting I was so happy and excited to find out my story was chosen. That is a great honor for me. I also have three other books of poetry on various themes including some very erotic and sexual pieces. I have a book of erotic short stories, a finished erotic novel as well as two other erotic novels I’m currently working on as well as a collection of children’s stories all of which will be published at a later date. So I am very busy with my writing and you will be seeing the name MsLovelieLadie a lot.

What kind of writing space would your readers see if they came to your house?
My kitchen table with my radio set up behind me playing slow jams. I have a nice sized kitchen and it’s my favorite space in the house. It’s where I’m most comfortable.

When you begin your stories, do you outline or just go with the flow?
I generally just go with the flow. I get an idea and I go with it. Once I get started I may outline the rest of the story. Based on how I want it to flow and how I want it to end. There are other times when I just want to see where the story takes me.

Do you listen to music when you are writing or do you have another ritual you use as you compose?
Yes, I listen to slow jams they help get me in the mood and soothe my inner self. I love oldies and new R&B. When it comes to music as long as it’s soothing I’ll relax and write.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?
I have three sons ages 14, 13, and 5 so I’m always busy. Currently the two oldest are in summer programs. My 13 year old won a scholarship to LaSalle College High School for their summer program and my 14 year old is a volunteer for Freedom School here in Philadelphia. My 5 year old is at home with me until September when he’ll enter Kindergarten. So my life is very busy. I don’t have a minute that I’m not doing something.

Do you have any unfinished projects sitting around?
I have the two erotic novels I’m currently working on but they’ll be finished soon and then I’ll start on something else. I don’t keep projects undone for long I try to finish whatever I’m working on.

Do you have any pet peeves that you would like to share?
The main pet peeve I have is that I hate it when you’re passing by someone and you say hello and they don’t respond. My mother always says it don’t cost a thing to speak. I say hello to everyone I meet, some say hello back and others don’t.
