Shiela Stewart Interview

Hello Shiela Stewart and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews. It is good to have Shiela with us this morning. We are anxious to hear about Shiela Stewart and her books.

I love your logo on your webpage: Shiela invites you to take a walk into fantasy, what a wonderful welcome. The sunset picture on your bio page is most welcoming, too. I had the opportunity to read Kidnapped and I was blown away. For the readers that haven’t had the chance to open this book, they are in for a treat. I noticed you have Secrets of the Dead coming out. Why not tell us a little about it, and if you would like to discuss a bit about Kidnapped feel free to include that as well.
Thank you Linda, for this interview. The Logo on my opening page just came to me as I was creating my website and I thought it was so fitting. And sunsets are my favorite time of day. When I’m stressed, I like to picture a sunset in my mind.

I’ll start with Kidnapped.
Kidnapped is about a rich woman who finds herself abducted by two men wearing Bart Simpson and Betty Rubble masks and does everything in her power to break free. While Betty Rubble terrifies her, Bart arouses her. She tries as desperately to get away as she does to convince herself she couldn’t possibly be falling for the man who abductor her. And when she finally finds out who is actually in charge of her Kidnapping, she sets things in motion to turn the tables.

It’s filled with plenty of sarcastic wit and sexual tension
and the ending will shock you.

Secrets of the Dead is a Paranormal Romance filled with suspense and will be released this June with Linden Bay Romance. C.J. Dowling is a Paranormal Investigator; Jessica Coltrane is a die-hard skeptic. Locked together in a haunted house, C.J. tries desperately to convince Jessica that ghosts do exist but it isn’t until a wild romp on the living room floor that she finally believes. Together they attempt to figure out why the entity of a young girl is keeping them locked in the house, and why her dead father wants his secret to remain silent.

Tell us, Shiela, what is a typical day like for you?
A typical day for me is waking at 7, kiss my hubby good bye as he heads out to work, get my son and daughter off to school, and my eldest off to work. After my house is quiet, I clean up the mess everyone left behind, then start up my laptop and check my emails. When all that is done, I grab my bottle of water and get busy writing.

What does your working space look like?
LOL, a mess, but it isn’t entirely my mess. My hubby uses my computer often so some of it is his mess as well. Mostly I like to work on my laptop sitting in my comfy chair in my living room while I have dance music rocking in the background.

When you begin your stories, do you do an outline or just start writing as the mood strikes?
Both, actually. Sometimes a story comes to me so strongly I don’t have time to jot down an outline. And then there are times when I have a general idea of a story, and that’s when I jot the ideas down.

Do you dive right into your characters and become a part of the story?
Oh yes, my characters are my best friends while I’m writing. I live and breathe the story. Often, I’ll wake at night with my characters playing in my head and phrases I think they should say. So I’ll hop out of bed and write them down.

From what do you derive the most inspiration for your writing?
I just love to write, always have. There isn’t a time in my life that I can remember not having a story in my mind.

How do you love to spend your time when you are not writing?
With my husband and my children. My children and my hubby are very active in sports, so I spend a great deal of time watching wrestling, soccer, curling and bowling. When I’m not doing that I like to draw and work in my flower garden. And on the weekends I like to sit and watch a good scare the hell out of me story

What would you classify as your favorite part of writing?
The characters. I love creating new people, new scenarios for them to get involved in.

Do you have a least favorite part of writing?
Research, by far. Anything that doesn’t involve ghosts or paranormal activity is like pulling teeth for me. I hate research. LOL

After you type, The End, do you miss your characters?
Oh most definitely. They’ve been such a big part of me, of my life for so long, that it’s hard to say good bye. But, like a mother, you have to let your babies go when they have grown and matured.

Is there any character that you wish you could write about again?
I have, actually. Secrets of the Deads’ male character, C.J. Dowling. There is a spin off of Secrets of the Dead involving the hero and heroines eldest child. I incorporated C.J. into the story and made him a pivotal part of his daughter’s life. There’s just something about C.J. that I can’t let go. LOL

Do you have any unfinished projects sitting around?
Yep, shamefully. I have three stories right now that are half finished, but while I was getting Kidnapped ready for publication, I sort of let them slip. The stories are still fresh in my mind, and I’ll most likely get back to them sometime in the future.

Is there another website other than http://www.members.shaw.ca/shielasbooks that you would like to share with your readers?
Certainly. They can check out my trailer for Kidnapped at, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRcjDyDImtU I also have a Newsletter for people to join. Each month I draw one lucky members name to win a prize. To join, simply send me an email with Newsletter sign up in the subject line, to: Shielasbooks@shaw.ca

Let’s have a little fun, shall we: Fill in the blanks concerning some of your favorites –
Dessert - Oh, chocolate cream pie. mmmm

City – I don’t think I have a favorite city other than the one I live in now.

Season – Fall. I love the colors of the leaves.

Type of hero - Tough but sensitive.

Type of heroine – Headstrong yet not afraid to admit her needs.

If you had the chance to see your books in a movie, who would you like to play the leading roles?
Oh Lord, this is a tough one. LOL

For Kidnapped: The Heroine could be played by Jenny McCarthy. She has the beauty that my character Liz has, and she looks truly like a woman, incapable of handling herself. Yet beneath the beauty, she’s a tough cookie.

The Hero, Mac could be played by Hugh Jackman, minus the accent.

Secrets of the Dead,

Hero: Orlando Bloom, yummy. OF course, he would have to lose the accent, which is a shame.

Heroine: Charlize Theron. She has played both sensitive and tough characters, which my character Jessica is.

Thank you so much for sharing time with us today, Sheila. It has been a pleasure Sheila, and I wish you the best with your writing. I hope you and your hubby can take your honeymoon soon.
