Jon Bradbury Interview

Fallen Angel Reviews would like to welcome back author Jon Bradbury. Thanks for revisiting us and giving us an update on you and your career.

We last spoke with you in 2005 and were able to get a little bit of insight into you and your stories. So, what's been happening since then?
Thank you, Serena, for this opportunity. Well, since 2005, I have been very busy writing some new material, including a very steamy tale about a woman who has an affair with her husband's partner.

Both Diamonds Are Forever and A Football Player's Wife have been published at eXtasy Books, can you tell us a little about these titles?
Both of these books are in the Tarot Series. Diamonds is about three people who all work at a firm called Diamonds are Forever, and their boss who likes to match people up. Football Player's Wife is about a woman who discovers that being married to a pro athlete is not everything it's cracked up to be.

I've asked you before, but for those who have not read our earlier interview, why interracial stories?
That's a great question. I write interracial stories simply because love has little regards for boundaries of race -- it's personalities that matter. Plus, there's just something very erotic about the contrast of skin tones.

Do you think of yourself as a plot-driven author or a character-driven author?
Very much a character-driven author. The way I write is, I take a character, and put that character in a situation. From that situation comes the plot.

Is it hard as a man in a predominantly female industry?
I don't really think about that. I just try to write some good stories. I know from experience that if the stories are good, then it won't matter.

Can you tell us what drew you to ePublishing?
E-Publishing is ideal for someone who 1, doesn't have an agent, and 2, has no hope of ever getting published the old fashioned way. Today, there is vanity publishing available for very low cost, but e-publishing offers an alternative.

Why eXtasy Books?
I had just about given up on ever getting published. Then, as many web surfers will attest, one website led to another, and led to eXtasy Books. I emailed them my first novel, Colorblind. And I have been with eXtasy Books ever since.

Do you have any other books out? Can you give us a glimpse into them?
I do have a new book coming out very soon, tentatively titled Sniper. It is about a police officer who saves the life of a prominent local businessman running for public office, and finds himself facing many temptations. Right now the book is in editing.

Do you feel that the ePublishing industry as a whole has begun to change since you started in 2005?
My gosh, yes. The e-Publishing industry is one of the fastest growing segments of the internet, so much so that even the traditional companies are starting to take notice. I have also noticed quite a few new authors on the scene.

Do you have anything in the works right now?
Yes, as I mentioned before, I have work in progress about a woman, Shauna, who has an affair with her husband's partner, Bruce. But her husband Andre, has plans of his own, like the hostile take over of the company from his partner. It's coming along nicely, and I hope to have it ready by the end of June.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Only that I hope people will check out my Yahoo Group. From there, visitors can go straight to eXtasy Books.
