Kelly Kirch Interview

Today I am speaking with Kelly Kirch. Hi Kelly and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews.

To start can you tell us a little about Kelly Kirch?
My husband told me to say I’m a vivacious young woman. I like that answer. Actually, I’m something of an extrovert with a preference for peace and quiet. I think that puts me at odds with the definition, but there it is.

Marriage Mart is an interesting title. Would you like to tell us a bit about it?
Marriage Mart is about a young lady of Regency England who has no intention of exchanging her well ordered single life for one involving marriage and subservience to the whims of a husband. Problem is, she’s betrothed and Daddy Dearest wants her married yesterday. So she does the next rational thing and disguises herself as a lord to uncover secrets about the man she’s meant to wed, simultaneously ticking off her best friend’s older brother—ahem, love interest—and escalating the extortion of her father.

What other projects can we look forward to?
Marriage Plot is the sequel involving two of the heroine’s friends from the first book. Both books stand alone. At the time this interview was set up, Marriage Mart and Marriage Plot were releasing by Cerridwen Press. Now, after a change in the lineup, Marriage Mart is contracted with Resplendence Publishing and they are looking forward to Marriage Plot.

However, the third contract I had with CP, Time For Love, is a go and is releasing on Valentine’s Day (that would be Feb 14th 2008, shameless plug for the guy-buys-a-gift-for-his-girl contingent).

What would you classify as your favorite part of a book to write, the beginning, middle or end?
Easy. The beginning. I LOVE setting everything up, the energy, and especially the first sentence.

How many hours are you able to set aside to write?
I’m a full time writer. I spend 10-12 hours a day five days a week and usually several more over the weekends too.

What does your workstation look like? Are you an organized person?
I sit in the corner of the couch with a couch table under the adjacent window as my laptop at rest station and a wicker shelf with my resources beside me. My computer perches on a wooden lap-board atop my legs. Organized? Sure, we can pretend that.

When composing do you form an outline or just go with the flow?
Ooo. Composing. It sounds so formal. I’m a pantser. If I had an outline, it would KILL the flow for me. I lose interest if I plan the story out.

If you could be invisible for one hour, what would you do and where would you go?
Oh that is funny. I was just talking about this with my fellow author friend, Anny Cook. I’d be planted in the corner of Amarinda Jones’ office. Have you seen that woman’s blog? The men in her office must share a brain and it is absolutely hilarious how she handles them. I wanna be there to watch her in action.

What are some of your hobbies besides writing?
Is there life outside writing?? Actually I have two kids who are very involved in extracurricular activities and a husband in graduate school with a student wives group I participate in.

If you could visit any place in the world for a week, where would you go for some rest and recreation?
Club Med, Bali. Post huts hovering over aquamarine water, parties every night, spas, trips into the village… what’s not to love?

If you were to replenish your cabinets with one junk food, what would it be?
Just one? You run a tight ship. Hot garlic shrimp fries but only if I have endless supplies of Sunkist without the dental bills.

Do you have a favorite movie that you could watch over and over again?
I love Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma. I could watch those ‘til the cows come home.

What is your favorite sound?
My husband telling me how much he wants me. I’ll never get tired of that.

Kelly, do you have another website other than http://www.kkirch.blogspot.com that you would like to share with your readers?
Yes, I do. http://www.kellykirch.com. Please stop by for a visit.

Kelly, it has been a pleasure having you with us today. We look forward to reading your books and your upcoming works.
Thank you Linda and thanks for having me on. This has been fun!
