Hello
Kira Stone and welcome to Fallen Angel Reviews!
Hi Linda, thank you for inviting me to stop by.
Kira, I noticed your Vampire Magic Series is out as well as
One Angels Wish and
Heart of a Lion with Samhain. I am sure the readers would love to hear something about your series and your latest release. Why not share a bit about each?
The Vampire Magic series is very special to me. I was invited to participate in a vampire M/M theme. Never having written a vampire book before, I was scared to death... fitting for Halloween. LOL. But I loved the challenge, and this series was born. Witches clashing with Vampires... it makes for some steamy moments.
Heart of a Lion... this one was a long time in coming. I wanted to write a book set in Britain that wasn't the traditional Scottish Laird thing. I made an Englishman the hero over the northern savages... and the love of his life is a simple -- or perhaps not so simple -- hunter.
One Angel's Wish... this book I wrote about a friend in high school who didn't have a guardian angel to watch over him. He has the happily-ever-after he never had in life. It's so fitting to me that it will be released on Christmas Day.
What is a day like with
Kira Stone?
Unending... and full of email. LOL. I usually get up about 7:00AM, and go to bed about 2:00AM. In between is filled with the day job, email, writing, email, maybe a quick meal or two... and email. *g*
What does your work station look like?
Chaotic. My desk is covered in note cards, remotes -- because my desk is in the living room -- and cat hair.
If you could meet any famous person in the world who would it be and why?
Allison Krauss, because I love her music. Robin Williams, because I'm sure he'd have great stories to tell.
How do you keep your ideas fresh and imaginative?
Mmmmm... being insane helps a lot with that. *g* My mind has no regulator on it. It twists the simplest things into plot ideas. For example, with Blood Price, the first book in the Vampire Magic series, it was triggered by a combination of a trip through the green hills of North Carolina and a paper cut. When you start asking "what if", your mind can take you anywhere.
Is any book you have written, your personal favorite?
Oh, goodness. Usually whatever I'm working on is my favorite. LOL. Heart of a Lion stands out because I really fell in love with Curran. I liked writing Insomnia, because I had a few really great conversations with the porn star mentioned in the book. Wild Ones, just for the challenge of writing a sex scene with four male bodies. Hmmmm... I could go on, because they are all special to me in their own way.
How long does it normally take you to finish a book?
It varies, depending on the book and how much time I have to write. On average, I would say a month for novellas. It's closer to a year for novel length books. But keep in mind that I usually have two or three WIPs going at the same time.
Do you have to go through many drafts/edits to get it polished just right?
I used to. In fact, I still battle against my internal editor. I always want to go through the book "just one more time." But these days I keep it to no more than three times before I turn it over to my editor.
How long did it take to find the right publisher for your works?
My first novella was accepted by the first place I submitted it to. HOWEVER, it took me about two years to get to the point of actually submitting something. *g*
Have you ever be asked to review a book?
Yep, I worked as a reviewer before I got published. It was a great way to learn what's out there, and what readers like.
Kira, you have been chosen to participate in the next World Olympics, what event would you enter?
Is there an Olympic event for speed reading? LOL.
I do love your website and the blue satin on the page.
Thank you. My website was designed by a close friend. He did a fantastic job.
Do you belong to any loops?
Oh yeah. In addition to my own -- which is primarily an announcement list -- I belong to a lot of Review site chat groups. I also participate in a lot of M/M promo groups.
If you could be any instrument what would you choose to be?
Drums... I just love the hard, pounding beat.
What is your favorite holiday?
Labor Day. Weird, I know, but I get a day away from the day job without the pressure of family gatherings or holiday shopping.
