Today at Fallen Angel Reviews, I am speaking with
Bridget Midway.
Good Morning
Bridget, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with us today.
Thank you for interviewing me. I appreciate it.
I saw on your website that you write Erotica and Erotic Romance. You also have a great list of books out with some great reviews, too.
Why not tell us something about
Silly Fears.
Sure. Silly Fears is about a woman with a fear of clowns. It doesn't help that her cousin owns a traveling circus. He sets her up on a date with a good friend of his who's withholding a secret from her.
This is my first attempt at erotic suspense. And there's a voodoo element to the story.
Perhaps you could enlighten the readers a bit on
Love My Way.
Love My Way is my BDSM slant on reality dating shows like "The Bachelor." The full-length novel through Loose Id is about a Dominant who looks for his next submissive through a reality TV show called "Love My Way." The Dom is a media mogul and he just lost his last submissive who wanted to use him for his media connections. The last thing he wants is another submissive who wants to be in the spotlight. The potential submissive just got rejected by this mogul while auditioning for one of his dance shows. To get back at him, she decides to do "Love My Way" so that she can get back at him. But once she gets to the show and he starts training her, she discovers a new side of herself.
Do you have to do much research in your writing?
Yes. To get a better understanding of what goes on in the BDSM world, I have joined a local BDSM group. Any questions I have, I run it by them. And they've allowed me to be pretty hands-on with their demonstrations. I have spanked someone with a paddle, flogged a submissive and done wax play. They've been great.
Do you get along well with your publisher?
Absolutely! I have been so fortunate to associate myself with a great group of publishers. It's important to have a great working relationship with your publisher. They can help make your releases successful.
If a reporter were to insist upon taking a tour of your life one day, what would they see in the day of Bridget?
If a reporter were to insist on a tour, they would fall asleep in the first hour. I'm pretty dull. I get up at 4 a.m. for my day job. I get off work at 4 p.m. When I get off work, I do promotions then I write until about 10 or 11 p.m. The weekends I split my time between writing and being with my family and friends.
How do you know what to name your books or the characters?
Book names are getting easier for me, especially since I steal a lot of them from song titles. 1980's song titles seem to give me more inspiration than others. Fascination Street, Love My Way, That's What Friends Are For and the upcoming Woman In Chains.
Character names are proving to be a bit harder. I normally go to baby naming websites to find names.
How long did it take to find the right publisher for your works?
I submitted for several years before I finally got acceptance from Phaze. That was over two years ago. Since then, I have been accepted by seven (7) different publishers.
What kind of books would we find on your bookshelves?
Romances! Contemporary, erotic, humorous, all types. I also have books on sex...strictly for research, of course.
Can you describe yourself in 3 sentences for our readers?
Bridget Midway is a writer who constantly trying to push boundaries with her stories. Despite the subject matters she writes, she is painfully shy. And she's generous and loyal to her friends.
What can the readers expect from your talented fingers in the years to come?
Readers should expect more BDSM interracial romance stories and other boundary-pushing tales that will entertain.
Do you have a favorite pair of shoes that you cannot do without?
I just bought a pair of Nike sneakers. I love them! They are comfy and I can walk forever in them.
If you were to replenish your cabinets with one junk food, what would it be?
Granola bars. I love them! A close second would have to be the new Pringle's sweet potato chips.
You wake up one morning to learn you are a farmer and have to plant. What crop would you begin planting on your farm?
Corn and tomatoes. When I was a kid, I actually grew one corn stalk in my backyard. And my mother used to grow tomatoes.
Do you have another website than
http://www.BridgetMidway.com/that you would like to share with your readers, like a blog or links to your books?
I sure do. My My Space page is www.myspace.com/BridgetMidway I normally have some pretty interesting songs and videos on there.
